Hey all. I really want to add a topper to my rig as I am now getting it out and wheeling and camping with it, along with going on mountain bike trips with it. I am looking at these two as my top contenders. I live in Florida so need something that will last, stand up to rain, sun and dust. I also will probably have some nights where I sleep in the bed with the topper on. I know the Alu-Cab is highly regarded and will hold up. Would love if anyone has real world input on the Westin top.

From research, the Westin having the double wall aluminum with insulation, integrated tail locking with factory Jeep key fob, and emergency release of the lock on the driver side gullwing door are some pretty good advantages if I sleep in the bed. (Yes, I may use a RTT eventually, but a lot of the trails in Florida are really tight, including overhead, and with a lifted vehicle, going up higher is not always ideal. The RTT would be liable to get beat to heck and sometimes may not allow passage through trails without trimming.)

Open to any input.

I had my eye on the Venturous bed cap but that Westin cap looks nice.

I looked at the Westin, and I was intrigued. The remote lock/unlock really interested me, but it’s still a modular canopy and the Alu-Cab is solid. I intend to do a lot of rough roads and desert running, so less hardware to shake loose is a bonus. I was able to find a Alu-Cab four hours away for $2k so I couldn’t pass it up. I think the Westin looks a little sleeker, but the Alu-Cab was purpose built for overlanding in rough conditions.
