The wheeling trips have been great, but we have a JL on 39s and have owned 15+ Jeeps over 3 decades. Therefore presidents day weekend hauling our entire cabin (8200 lbs in the trailer) 600 miles including the 20 miles of washboard dirt roads and building our cabin stands out the most. It's still a Jeep, but the only one built that can do that.

5 long days busting our butts sun up to sun down but we got it framed and weather tight in a weekend. Sheeted the sub floor, framed, doors, windows, siding, and the roof just the wife and I. Before this I'd never framed more than a small deck in the back yard. Couldn't have done it without the JT (or the wife). The wash precludes a lot of street trucks if it's rained recently.

Unfortunately we didn't get any, after dragging the trailer 600 miles just getting to the property was the only thing on my mind.

My best trip? The one I just got back from! That is, each and every one is a joy. And I wonder if moving from 'rubber' bumper to steel (or aluminum) is OK for a daily driver with some minor off roading. I added the Badlands 1200 just because I could, and have used it once. Also carry 'recovery' gear that I probably will never use. I like the 'rubber' bumper just fine and it carries the winch OK for minor usage.

I went to Easter Jeep safari this year . Last year was the Nor Cal BDR. Anza Barrago , Death Valley, East Sierra, all trips have been great.
That’s a pretty legendary list of trips already 😅

Easter Jeep Safari and the NorCal BDR alone are bucket-list level, then adding Death Valley, Anza-Borrago, and the Eastern Sierra on top of it is hard to beat.

Sounds like the Gladiator’s definitely being used the way it was meant to be. Which trip has been your favourite so far?

From the Dealer to the house.
Honestly that's fair... that first drive home hits different 😅

There’s just something about finally getting behind the wheel of your own Gladiator for the first time that sticks with you.

My wife and I took a trip that was 30 days overlanding. We had about 1300 miles in gravel and off road. Camped about 25 of those days, cooking and eating out of the truck. We went from Montana through Wyoming (flaming gorge), then edge of Colorado (Dinosaur NP), south to Moab for three days (Metal masher, Back road to arches-tower arch, and camping out behind canyonlands) then-Goblins and remote dirt road- little wild horse canyon- back exit to catheral valley, then staircase NP, burr trail, then zig zagged through dirt roads catching every dirt road south we could, slot canyons, calf creek falls, kodachrome valley, various ruins, arches, cottonwood road, etc... Eventually we went to Subline point on the north rim of Grand Cayon in AZ... Then worked to Sedona, Agua friea, Crown king... two days in Phoenix, then over to Joushua tree 3 days- lots of hiking, camping, then up through the mojave, into death valley for 4 days. Panamint valley, to June lake 2 days, hiking in yosimite, mono lake, Bodie, then into Nevada, then lake Tahoe, over to cater lake in Oregon, costline- redwoods, florance sand dunes... 4 nights camping in oregon. Then back up through idaho- craters of the moon, Yellowstone national park, and then home. Best trip... 2022.

Okay yeah… that’s not a trip anymore, that’s a full-on expedition 😅

30 days living out of the Gladiator and stringing together places like Moab, Death Valley, the North Rim, Sedona, Tahoe, the Oregon coast, Yellowstone… that’s incredible.

And honestly, the fact that you were cooking, camping, and taking dirt roads between all those places is what makes it even cooler. Th photos and views are unreal too. Sounds like you guys experienced a huge part of the West the right way 👌

Out of all the places, did you have a favourtie?

We're on our second Gladiator (by choice). I see a lot of the camping pics and we've had some great camping adventures, especially in the 2020 JT, but there were a few times when I was so glad I had a truck.

The 2020 JT was my first truck and when we redid the front yard of our house, I used the JT a lot to carry wood, rocks, and material. When the forklift came over and dropped two huge lava rocks in the truck bed, I was so happy I had my own truck. ;) I thought, "this is why I bought it."

Okay loading giant lava rocks into the bed is a pretty solid “this is why I bought a truck” moment 😅

And honestly, that’s one of the cool things about the Gladiator. It can do the camping/adventure side of things, then randomly turn around and haul stuff home from a landscaping project the next day.

Those lava rocks look way bigger in the bed than I expected too 👀

Okay this is awesome 😅

Most people are talking about scenic trips and trails, meanwhile you guys casually used the Gladiator to haul materials and build an actual cabin.

That’s a perfect example of what makes the JT so unique. One weekend it’s wheeling and camping, the next it’s towing lumber down washboard roads and helping build something in the middle of nowhere.

And the cabin/location looks incredible too 👌 How far along is the build now?

Death Valley- I will be back there and spend more time! bring your own gas... lol. The size and landscape and views were really amazing. I have lots of ice and snow covered mountains and running creeks and rivers, with green and trees... but the death valley experience was really "new" stuff to look at. Could be if I were from Death Valley- I would feel the same about the top of the beartooth mountians.... if just was so different!

Hoping to finish up the loft walls and ceiling next week when we are out there. 1st floor is 100%. Flooring, paint, lights, ceiling fan, etc. We plan to build a deck off the front next.

Wow this is great! Love the natural wood colour of the floor... can tell it's going to have a nice homey comfy vibe to it. Can picture the peaceful quiet mornings already.

Oh wow yea the excitement over "new" views is just something else. Have heard lots of owners going back to Death valley but you're right... got it make sure your own gas!
