Just drive the amc until next week. I’ll keep you posted with my progress. I’m 12 hours from Davenport, not including gas stops. Taking the PHEV to minimize stops, and to not put 2k miles on the gladiator for no reason.

Sure, I’ll get some tomorrow…….fairly simple install, just plan for most of the day putting it together. You’ll need someone to help twice during the install, once putting the frame in, once putting the drawer in. both are pretty heavy. This will take up pretty much all of the bed, you might have 4 inches at the top. It ways about 180lbs total.
Thanks!!! I have a bed cap so not worried about overhead room as much. Want to do the top roller tray thing and mount spare tire and badlands jack to that. I just need to get better organization than a Lowes super commander wheeled tote thing in the bed. lol

They have a special going on now where you get some accessories with the drawer. 2 bins and a tool box. Pretty nice stuff.

Success. Now that I'm less likely to crush a finger or something, time for a beer.

Gears done. Truss burned on.
Front pattern was really difficult to get acceptable. Rear ran an almost perfect pattern with the factory shims.

I've got more work to do before I throw them back under the jeep. Maybe next weekend.

Do I need to stock up on beer while I'm out buying more zip ties?
This will be a 50 amp line going back, plus the line to the backup lights and to power the USB and 12v outlet - I secure the heck out of stuff. Ice and mud love to hang on wires and yank them loose.
I'll have a couple of extra small Jeep accessories I was going to list for free here but will wait to see if you want any of them. Also we can check my stash of AMC engine parts - I have to clear out some space. Will look to see if I have any extra aluminum intake manifolds - I know I have extra carburetors, valve covers, probably a timing cover and other stuff. If I have parts you need and they are extras to me - they are yours.

I'll also pick your brain for IDEAS for my rig.

The Javelin is dead sitting outside, so one reason to get my JT going is so I can pull it back with the winch and roll it back into the shop where it belongs - starter died on it............. of course, the only way to access that is from UNDER the car.

No snow in forecast so I can drive the SX4. It's not seen salt before.

Awesome. Just awesome.
Agreed - I've been wanting to meet that wildhobo guy for a long time. He's been a lot of help to me over the years. My shop is a pure disaster at this time, though - so it will be a bit embarrassing. Things haven't been put away for months and benches are full of wiring and such, half-finished projects. I guess I have an excuse - brain surgery set me back a while. Now how many can use that excuse! HA.

Finally got Starlink wired in. We live in the mountains and have big cellular dead zones every direction when we leave our house. What a game changer to not only have a data connection when out and about, but a high speed connection. One of my favorite mods.

My home internet is now over 900 up and over 900 down............. Last night I watched TV on my phone by accessing my DVR and playing the local TV stations through that to my phone - I got bored waiting for the meal........

On the other hand - a year ago, our speeds for maybe half of what you have now. If they hadn't laid 1 gig fiber through our rural neighborhood, I was ready to go with skynet. oh, wait, no, not that one - starlink..................

Got the wiring in the right tail light area done so now if I ever get the harness run under the truck, I'll be able to run the Oracle backup lights via an aux switch. Tried getting back under the truck, had to quit - sick headache again. Yesterday taught me a lesson... so I'll have to do this in 2 or 3 minute increments and minimize time under the truck on my back. Man, I sure wish I had a lift! Went to bed sick last night after yesterday's tries.
Talked to another guy in our street rod group who has the same thing - he tried to change a transmission filter in his van, got sick after a few minutes.
May end up hiring the rest of this done and just resign myself to not being able to make many mods myself in the future.
At least the work behind the tail light, getting connectors on the wire, heat shrink and tie straps, was all standup work.
It’s a pain running the back up lights to the aux switches, but I’m glad I did. Mine are really bright and I didn’t want to be blinding people in parking lots. I also did most of the wiring on my work bench. I just spent forever with zip ties running it with the factory wiring to look more OEM and be well protected.

We had a rural provider (their name was "The Cable Company") that literally went out 5-10 times a day. My wife and I both work from home and she's on calls all day and the connection would drop while she was on calls. After years of stress from work interruptions, were considering moving when our electric company announced they were running fiber. It was so nice to finally have a fast, stable connection. My aunt is in Kentucky and still only had DSL as an option 15 minutes outside of Lexington. She finally made the switch last month to Starlink. Crazy she couldn't get something better so close to a major city.

I hear you on the Skynet thing. 😬 😂

I also did most of the wiring on my work bench. I just spent forever with zip ties running it with the factory wiring to look more OEM and be well protected.
I made the basic harness using a mesh sleeve and running 2 8 gauge cables and 2 14 gauge wires in the sleeve. A lot of it was done on the bench so I could just slip it up alongside the bed wall, and run the white wire to the tail light area to power the backup lights through the diode back there. The other 14 gauge orange wire (all are silicone insulated so are flexible as heck) will go to power the USB and 12v outlet. .

This needs to be pushed up to the top of the frame and strapped to the existing factory wires up there - once it makes it to the engine bay, I'll be able to easily finish up that end. I didn't want to cut things to exact length and put ends on yet as the exact path, jogs and such can take up length, and once in the engine bay, the wires will go 3 different ways.
There's an 8 gauge ground, 8 gauge hot for that quick connect in the side of the bed.
The ground will also handle ground for the USB ports and 12v outlet as I won't be using both the 50 amp quick connect and other things at the same time.
I'll likely pull power for the hot side of the quick connect from the winch side of my winch disconnect solenoid so I can hit aux if I want power to the winch out front, or power to the disconnect in the bed - which will be used to power the 2500 pound winch on my trailer.
