really procrastinating on cutting this bedside...

Figured out the exhaust situation though, since I didn't want a lot of pipe hanging below the frame out the rear. 3" to 4" resonated tip. Between the angle and the resonator I think it's a smidge less raspy and a little deeper. I mean, very very minor. It's only a tip after all. The angle it's pointing out at probably makes more of a difference in sound than anything. A bit more stealthy looking, won't see it unless you're looking for it.

Cold start:

You could have had one of those cool tips off Amazon that have the brake lights in em. Or a FLAMETHROWER!!!!! Who doesn’t need a flamethrower in their exhaust?! 🤷‍♂️

Sounds good and looks good though. Cutting or drilling the body is one of those things you need a lot o balls to get started on. I’ve felt that consternation before. In those days, beer helped. :like:

I don't think I'm going to get to cutting it until tomorrow now, it's not supposed to rain but it sure does look like it. So I'm cleaning the garage to fit the fat bitch in. Need dry environment for the paint on the cut edges.

BTW I see you removed the taillights. You taped the wiring harness up and out of the way too right?

Yeah she's zip tied up. You've cut bedside before?

The factory rear corners hold so much mud it's ridiculous. These bed sides are going to be rusting out like crazy in another 10 years. I laid right under it and flushed mud out with a hose for probably 30 minutes. Wish it wasn't 50° out today.

If I had unlimited storage space I'd buy two or three of these beds to tuck into a corner for a rainy day.

I haven’t cut into the JT yet. I have dug Into what’s on the rear corners so when I bash em up I know what will be damaged.

I drilled probably 20-30 holes in my LJ when I was adding armor to it many moons ago. That and the River Raider snorkel required about a 2-3” hole saw through the cowl. All in the same weekend. Burned out my buddy’s drill doing that. It was “slightly” concerning doing it.

My TJ is swiss cheese. Full tub armor and on it's second set of tub sliders... and none of the holes lined up between the old and new ones, of course

You’ll be ok. They’re aluminum.

Why is it magnetic, then?

The tailgate, doors, and hood are aluminum. The cab body and bed seem to be steel.

Would love to be wrong on this count, I'd have preferred if the bed were aluminum on this truck.

You are correct. My bad. Tailgate is aluminum. But bedsides are steel. Tranks for correcting me.
