What do you guys do with your rooftop tent when it's not on your Jeep? I'm thinking about making some kind of storage rack that I can hang from the ceiling of my garage and store it there when I'm not using it but wanted to know what others of you might be doing.

I think you’re supposed to just drive around with it all the time and look extra cool.

But, seriously, I think what you're talking would be my choice as well.

I just hang it here and tarp it. Works gerat... used wood that someone else was throwing away... but I can drive under and drop it back on the bars...

If you have typical 8' garage door, with a 9' garage ceiling, AND access to the attic, you can use a Fleximount Overhead Storage lift. It's rated for 300-lbs, which can easily lift my OpenRoad 161-lb tent, the 50-lb awning, and a few other lightweight items. I would STRONGLY recommend getting into the attic and installing a couple of 2x4x8 boards on top of the Ceiling Joists, to help spread the load across multiple ceiling joists. I really like this setup since I can accurately lower the tent down onto the bed cap with precision. It's basically a one-person job.

I'm in the process of building a "cage" that will mount on top of my custom lifted 5x8 trailer (on 37's).

I've designed it to where my bed rack comes off of my truck and will mount directly to the cage and can then be move around separately with my loader forks on my tractor or installed on the trailer for use when we want to have a base camp set up.

I'll still be able to haul my ATV or dirt bikes underneath. The entire cage structure will also have expanded metal mesh for additional security and storage capabilities when not hauling machines. Should be great for additional fuel and water and I don't always have to lug around the tent on the jeep. I can also then use it with other vehicles when desired.

The solar on my tent keeps my fridge running year-round,so my tent just stays on.
