No, it doesn't really vary at all.

If a Jeep dealer is of the size that their insurance requires GPS locators and monthly/weekly inventory reports (and they ALL are that size if they want to keep their dealership contract with CDJR), then the dealer principal is going to do what is required for his policy.
What will vary is the decision to remove and recycle the device.

My dealer, for example, is part of a large group of dealerships. They install a tracker in every vehicle that is vampire tapped into the wiring behind the OBD port. They do not attempt to remove them. They do try to sell a subscription for a security service tied to the device.

The ad below your post is for Mystic Stamp company.
Our dealer even has "value added" sheets on some windshields on the lot with a line item for theft tracking and recovery subscriptions. They are also part of a much larger corporate family. But they haven't tried to sell us those services, and the device is there anyway, even on jeeps I order special and don't buy off the lot. Obviously part of their prep routine.

Being a working musician I'm often 1) parking in busy city nightlife areas, and 2) drunk.

So someone please track my JT so if it's stolen I can locate it and when I'm drunk I can find it later.

See? Tracking does have some good uses.

That and Google nest/home listen all the time. Your phone listens if you have Siri or hey Google to detect you asking a question.

Install an Apple Air Tag (or whatever Android Auto uses). Cheap and simple.

Yes...tracking does have some good qualities - that is, until the thieves figure out how to disable, unplug, or block the transmissions.

Also WAY more intrusive and trackable by virtually anyone than a silly dealer add-on GPS thing.

Apple/Tile tracking tags work by having a huge network of other people using them too. If one is scared of tracking, or is bothered by tracking, those are the worst things to use.

A little off track but are you getting much work there in the Houston area? Or is there more in Austin and Dallas?

I also mess with the Alexa and other things that listen by saying things that really shouldn't be said, just to see how much listening is happening. Where's the best place to dispose of a body? Is the meat of a child more tender than an adult? How does one get started with sex trafficking? Stuff like that. I can talk about assassinating world leaders willy nilly and nothing happens. But mention skiing and I'm immediately bombarded with ski ads.
No ads for guillotines or bomb making manuals? :CWL:

The difference is the ski talk goes to the sales companies and the evil stuff goes straight to the FBI. 😂 🤪

(All in good humor)

Yeah not bad. Mostly session work and multiple band stuff. A lot of recording. Thankfully I have a very lenient, forgiving, and highly paid wife. 😀

Here in SoCal we mostly hear about Austin City Limits on tv.

Love the studio work the most but the live entertainment is always a blast.
My past paid work was always on the side and now I volunteer at church.
The nice thing about that is I get to play a lot and it's close to home.

I've been asked to play in some church/worship bands. I can't do it. No way. I'd burst into flames going anywhere near a church. I don't really have anything against it but it's not for me. The idea of playing to a captive packed house is appealing though. 😀

Don't even get me started on Austin. It's the most overrated overhyped music scene in the country. Sure at one time it was cool and unique. Then everyone went there and now it's completely overloaded with crap. It's probably similar to actors moving to L.A hoping to make it big. I know a lot of people in Austin. None of them are very successful. There's just too much going on.

Don't get me wrong...Houston sucks. But Austin does too.

Back on topic to avoid a total hijack, the OP removed the tracker and all is well for that but really the only way to stop from being tracked somewhere is to get rid of all electronics and go off the grid. That's a pretty tough sell these days but not impossible.

Lol@ the burning church thing. I have family members who say the same about their clothes smoking but I don't push it. If they turn to God it will be in their time not mine. We're all basically in the same boat.

I had a drummer friend who moved to Austin about 10 years ago. Haven't heard from him since. I don't get much tv time these days but I'm sure ACL is on somewhere. Here in SoCal the music scene used to be in LA and Hollywood but I've been off track long enough that I have no idea the status there either,
