I would have searched for it exclusively if I knew what it was called so I am sorry if this is a repeat thread.

What is that small vent by the right knee?

If anyone is looking for a shortcut to their security gateway cables, removing this lower trim piece will get you right in there (6 clips?). Had a firm grip and they still wouldn't move which makes them more suspect than ever!

So the Wrangler forums seem to think it is a temp sensor for climate control. I have climate control and there was nothing back there when I removed the kick panel.

There's a tube with a moveable plastic piece behind where the grate is.

Didn't dig that deep. Dash trim comes off rather easily so I may take another look. - Thank you!

IF you have the factory power inverter, removing that panel gains you nothing except a possible broken clip or two.

I have a factory power inverter. I was looking for a shortcut to the SGM when I noticed that vent and didn't know what it was for. As suspected the shortcut is actually there. It's still a little work but much easier to access.
