Ok I'll bite,

2022 Glad - Needed a small truck for the dog, dump & home depot runs, and because we have a large boat posing as a summer cottage, i.e. I needed a sensible vehicle. Have owned Ford & GM/Chevy full sized trucks, but never a Jeep, and the roof comes off.

2019 Audi SQ5 - Its the wife's ride, her choice, nuff said.

2018 Porsche Panamera 4S - because I wanted to try out a sensible Porsche after a string of very not so sensible ones. But how sensible is a 440 HP sports sedan with a 4" ground clearance when there is 6" of slush on the road, or you need a 4x8 sheet of plywood? But now that I have a truck again, the question is do I revert to 2 door/2 seats rear engine, or 4 door/ 4 door electric slot car?

So if I'm honest, the reason why I bought the Glad is so I can stop having a sensible car and go get another 911 that I really want. I guess that also means getting an EV even if it is a Porsche is a silly idea.

Good talk Carmigo!
Thanks for posting, I've got it all sorted now.
That's a cool collection of cars, wish i had your garage.

manual convertible with removable doors. looks cooler than a wrangler.

now that I have it I take it off-road, but prior to the purchase that was not a deciding factor. I think it will be from here on out though.
Once you get a jeep, you're obligated to off-road at least a few times. Gotta replicate the commercials you know?

Since I became an adult, I’ve needed pickups for hauling vegetable gardening supplies, building supplies and the 4 to 7 large rescue dogs with whom I have lived. All my trucks have been equipped with bed caps for my dog friends. Started out with a Ford Ranger, transitioned to Toyota Tacomas (owned two of them) and, most recently, bought a used 2020 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon. Thought I’d own a go anywhere, do anything rig that would allow me, with a winch I installed, to get myself and others out of most any jam we might find ourselves in. So far, 14 months of ownership, I can report that the Jeep is the most capable and reliable work vehicle I have owned.
So happy to hear your jeep has been good to you and your pups! What are the names of your dogs?

I've always loved the Wrangler look but didn't like it's unruly nature on the road.

I first saw a firecracker red gladiator at a local car wash. It was being vacuumed out by its smiling faced owner as I was entering the wash in my nondescript Japanese sedan thinking that the Gladiator was bad ass. At that point I knew I had to have one.

Started my research on the gladiator and realized it was financially doable.
Test drove a few and found the longer wheelbase tamed the unruly characteristics of the Wranglers I had driven previously.
Ordered one with the options I wanted and the rest is history.

Been in love with her ever since.
That's my story
It was love at first ride <3

Interesting topic, guess I'll chime in.

I guess you could say this Journey started in 2011. I bought a 2007 Toyota Tacoma. I researched that vehicle and others for two years prior to purchase. I wanted an off-roading vehicle, mid-sized truck. I like having the bed to make Home Depot runs, help buddies move, hunting etc. Tacoma (at the time) seemed the most reliable, support for aftermarket and had all the check blocks I was looking for at the time. Got a basic 4X4 six speed manual 4 door white Tacoma.

While taking it off road, I quickly learned the IFS for the type of wheeling I do wasn't the greatest. started making modifications slowly and in 3 years I was stationed overseas. I left the Tacoma in my brothers hands while I was gone. didn't expect to be gone for almost 8 years LOL.

In 2019, i was getting ready for another deployment and decided to stock up on my porno mags, you know, Four Wheeler, Guns & Ammo, American Hunter, Popular Mechanics etc. well in one of the mags, center fold was the Gladiator. at first I thought it was a concept or a joke honestly. (Never looked at jeeps before, I wanted a truck bed)

Remembering what I still planned to do to the Tacoma, I researched the Gladiator from 2019 to 2021 when I finally purchased mine and had it delivered upon my return to the US. so far, it has been my favorite vehicle I have owned. Also, it is the most modification I have ever done to any vehicle I've owned. Definitely have made it mine and have built my dream truck and take it out wheeling any chance I can get with the Rubicon and 3 trails in Big Bear planned for this year prior to leaving Cali.
Sounds like a perfect fit for you upcoming trip. Hope Big Bear is a blast, take lots of picture for us!

Don't have a car. I have either a Jeep or a truck. Or the GLADIATOR!
I made sure to read "GLADIATOR" with lots of emphasis when i saw this comment lol. You got us there, what made you choose your gladiator?

I wanted a Gator green Overland. I originally wanted Blue, but after a bad experience with paint on a Kia Sorento, I decided I wanted a color that could be "beat up" looking and still look cool. The blue was to "pretty" and I would want to keep it that way. The green can be covered with army emblems or something, and it would improve the look.
I also wanted an Overland specifically, because it would be a daily driver and wanted it a little comfy. I am getting too old for the type of ride my Cherokee used to deliver.
After looking all over the county, we eventually found one. And it was THE one, optioned out exactly as I wanted. So I got it.

Other car:
In 1984 I just turned 18 and was outside with my mom and saw a car drive by. It was a blue convertible with a white top and mag wheels. I said to my mom: "Ooh...I like that car..." and she replied that it was not only owned by someone she worked with, but it was for sale.
$950 dollars later I was a proud owner of my first car, a 1969 Plymouth Satellite convertible.

...with no brakes, no floorboards or trunk floor, a leaky roof, bad electrics, trashed interior, etc...

So I learned how to fix up a car, no budget, no experience, crappy tools, no place to work on it but the driveway.

Years go buy, I am still so poor that I am one paycheck away from living under an overpass, but I kept the car, and it was my daily driver. Eventually it became too far gone to drive.

I bought several cars since then, a 1974 Satellite, an 88 Cherokee XJ (I still have), a 1996 XJ, a 2007 Grand Cherokee (that one was awful), and the 2011 Sorento mentioned above.

And I still had the Satellite. But it was ROUGH. It sat for years and deteriorated.

Two marriages later, my wife gave me the ultimatum. Fix it or ditch it. I did not know ANYTHING about bodywork, but I was a pretty good mechanic, so I dove in. Six years it took. Now it's done.

This is the car I saw in my mind when it drove by in 1984....

Heard about it, saw it, waited for the diesel version of it, drove it, loved it, knew I had to get one.
