Leave it in the corner of the garage and install it when you need to?
Well, the thing about my garage is that there are these gnomes that like to move my stuff around and hide my tools (like all of my 10mm sockets). And I would hate for it to not be where I think it is when I actually need it.

I think I just saw someone on reddit mention that you could "reverse" mount it for storage. Not sure if how/if it works with spare tire.....
Ha, I actually tried this, but sadly, with the spare tire there, it won't fit. I guess this just means I should buy a spare tire mount for the bed. Or even better a rear bumper that will hold a spare. But then that won't fit in the garage so I guess I just need to build a bigger detached garage. Glad we solved this! hashah

I wrap mine in an old t-shirt and store it behind the back seat. The T-shirt helps because there's no rattle, no mess.
Yeah, I think for now this is the way I will continue to do things. I just moved from a Jeep Commander so I had plenty of interior space. I obviously lost some interior space with the move to the gladiator, but not a huge deal. If I decide to mount it somewhere later on, I always can.

What about a few 2" square U-bolts? I have a triple ball that lives on the hitch but if i really needed to i could throw a couple of these on the molle panel and stow it away.

That's not a bad idea. I think I could cad up a mount to incorporate those and 3d print it out of ABS. This may be a nice little project for the start of my summer break.

Nope, doesn’t work this way with a spare tire mounted

That’s where I put my wife as well.

Wait. I feel like I missed something. Nah.
Dog up front, noise maker in the back. Priorities, Dan.

10mm gnomes are the bane of our existence as car/truck people. Fortunately for us Harbor Freight doth provide: https://www.harborfreight.com/10-mm-metric-essential-socket-set-10-piece-58957.html

Sound logic. I see that you, too are a gentleman of refinement and taste.

Now you're talking!

Most of my ideas sound good on paper but typically fail the reality test due to lack of talent, skills, tools, brain power and time. 60% of the time they work every time.

Maybe I should have read your post before I posted mine. :) I have one. They’re great. I have two drop lengths that I change two depending on the trailer.
No worries!!!

We love it!! I have 2 balls 😆 2” (that we use all the time for the boat) and a bigger one that we rarely use, but…..it’s there in case we need to go tow something bigger than than that).

How do you clean yours - and I mean… the ball mount - the part that rotates? I used to spray brakleen but I haven’t done that in a while.

I don’t really. I also have the 2” and 2 5/16” balls. I hang it in the wall with all my hitch sprawl, so it’s not in the weather unless being actively used. Brake clean should work fine though. Maybe some clear silicone spray after.

The other two just regular soap. Pretty sure brake clean would cause issues.
