In some places, you're at risk of putting up an American flag! Sad to say the least!
It is indeed sad that the flag has been claimed and co-opted by the lowest common denominators of american society. No longer is it a symbol of what our country is supposed to stand for, now it's a symbol for simpletons.

What the Duck? I’ve never been into the duck thing, have no need for even ONE on my dash! Never mind a platoon of them. I find anything on my dash a distraction.

That's a very good point. I hadn't really considered keeping any duck on the dash mostly because I don't want to use Velcro or double-sided tape to secure them. Regardless of duck, I'd probably display them in the garage or on my desk.

I don't put up political yard signs for the same concerns you mentioned. In some places, you're at risk of putting up an American flag! Sad to say the least!
they make small stand things for them now. Basically a sticky back ā€œpinā€ that goes into a hole on the bottom. They also have a string thing that mounts up on top to keep them contained. My sister is huge into the duck thing. She’s on the other side of the country. I’m safe. :CWL:

I'm not into the duck thing , but I was given a personalized one by my granddaughter (keeper) and another from the Rhode Island CRMC when I got my beach driving permit! I keep them but usually in my center console and pull them out when my granddaughter's around.

It's strange that anyone would care, it's such a foolish thing. When I receive one, I re-gift to a child. It's nothing to get your shorts in a bunch.

I don't get bunched up, I just don't understand the "why" behind it. I googled it, learned about it, but still don't get it.

BTW - just came back from Best Buy. Guess what ? Another duck....

The why is the easiest part. It's not rocket science. Here, pretend I'm writing this in crayon...

Someone in a Jeep sees your Jeep, they like your Jeep, your Jeep looks good, maybe they give you a duck for it. It's meant to be friendly camaraderie between Jeep people. There. End of transaction. It's not an assault on your manhood or vandalism of your personal private property. It's a tiny rubber ducky symbolizing appreciation of your ride that even if they were nasty hooligan thugs that threw this duck as hard as they could at your ride it still would do nothing.

The "why" you should be asking is why seemingly grown men would get so offended over ducks.

Interesting...let me use your logic.... and your attitude.

You did not explain the "why", you explained the "what". It's not quantum mechanics. Here, pretend I'm writing this with sidewalk chalk.

You explained "what" happens when someone likes your Jeep. You get a duck. That's like saying water is wet, we all know that.

You didn't explain the "why" a duck, although in your mind; somehow you did. Jeeps have ZERO to do with ducks. A rubber dog would make more sense; more dogs in Jeeps than ducks. At least around here. Make sense ? Or would you rather I scratch it in dirt with a pointy stick ?

And at no time did I say I was "offended" by it. I was curious. Curiosity does not make me angry.

Come in with an attitude, it gets bounced right back atcha, keyboard warrior. In abundance. Attitude does not prove righteousness, it proves mental weakness.

Apologies to all.... I usually ignore these types. But they've been around since the Bulletin Board days. Yes, I'm that old....

Well shit that would have been even easier to answer had you asked a clear and concise question. You just said "why"...not, "why a duck"? It was just...."why". So I told you. It's not my fault you can't ask complete questions.

The rest of your butthurt lecture is just stupid so let's move past it.

Accepted

Ignoring incessant morons takes stronger manhood than giving in to their buffoonery.
I’ve played that game to a tee and pummeled them into submission but learned that it’s a fools game and stepped away for good.
Stay strong , brother.
Life is too short.

Has anyone gotten a duck that comes with a miniature bottle of alcohol? I don't drink alcohol, but I thought that was a super clever idea. There are people who are putting a lot of time and thought into these ducks!

We got ducks from one side of the windshield to the other. Grandkids (12, 10, 9, 6 and 3) think the ducks are the coolest thing in the known world; and we don't care one way or the other as long as they ain't in our way. The grandkids fun is much more important (to us) than our image pro or con duck. When the kids get tired of (or outgrow) the ducks, we will be done with them too.

If you like the ducks, enjoy. If you don't or you feel they somehow detract from your machismo, that's OK too. This is the United States of America and a Jeep pilot has the right to duck or not. Long live the Republic!

We trudge on.

The wonderful thing about Jeeps is that they are a canvas for what you want them to be. Bone stock Sport commuter to hard core rock crawler and everything in between. Imagine being on the outside and looking into Jeep Wrangler/Gladiator ownership. It may seem crazy.

I keep one small black duck, from the Susan G Komen foundation with a pink ribbon, on the dash to remind my wife and I that we're enjoying the Jeeps because of gifted oncologists and surgeons.

I have some pilot ducks in the center console that I'll put on a Jeep with ducks. Just hoping it'll make someone smile and add to their collection. And a fun way to say, "Nice Jeep!" I also enjoy the duck discussions. The comments make me smile.

Everyone has their reasons for both the sane and silly things.
