One of our favorite trails in Moab, Cliffhanger is an exciting and challenging trail that is sure to leave an impression on highly experienced drivers. If you are afraid of heights, you may want to consider a different trail as the exposure on the namesake obstacle can be a bit too much for some people. Rated an 8 out of 10 which means it is a very difficult trail and should only be attempted by modified vehicles that have lockers, a winch, and 35" tires. We took our Gladiator Rubicon out on this trail during Easter Jeep Safari 2022 for its first test of its capability since it was built for SEMA in 2019. Yes, we know that the 20" wheels are a bit silly for off-road use and we would not recommend them. They made it out surprisingly unscathed but the same cannot be said for our passenger side rocker panel...

These 2 Big Bear Trails are absoutely beautiful and challenging - Holcomb Creek Trail & John Bull trail. I have also done Gold Mountain, but, it is not as great as the other two. Of Course, The Rubcion Trail we did was "out of this world", but, everyone already knows that. Here is a video of the Holcomb Creek Rock Gardens.

That is super impressive! Any pointers when taking on Holcomb Creek Trail? I've heard it can be fairly difficult.

Also, favorite obstacle?

In with Black Bear. This movie includes the steps and the first couple of switchbacks. The road from Hwy 550 to Telluride is ~13 miles and very scenic.

It is a nice long trail with beautiful scenery. The hardest obstacles are the two rock gardens. For those, you need to stop, pick the best line, and have a good spotter. Low lock, first gear, granny gear the whole way through the rock gardens. I would recommend at least two rigs, or 3 if you have a less capable rig that has to go in the middle. I would say a winch is also necessary, or two winches, if you have a less capable rig in the middle. 3.5" of lift and 37s will also make it easier. Air down good and low with 37s, like 13 psi. If you have lockers, only use the rear. The front lockers make it just too hard to turn fast enough to keep your line in the rock gardens. Also, because of the length of the gladiator, it is easy to get the rear hung up, so, when the front clears a set of boulders, wait until the last possible moment to turn to make sure your rear tires stay on the line. Enjoy !

Yes- have good skids. I swear every other time we go through, some how a sacrifice had to be made- oil pan or trans…. Sometimes it’s just a dent…. But still. Rocks there shift in odd ways.

Schnebly rd in Sedona…. Crappiest dirt road…. Little to no “off road” just super rocky bumpy long dirt road drive.
But camping at the top is one of the best places on the west coast…. Coffee and sunrise is ??

Here are a couple of movies from Corkscrew Pass near Ouray. They are both from 2019. The snow was heavy that year and there was a lot of avalanche damage. These were done around AUG 1. Corkscrew is easy; a good pass for new Wheelers in the San Juan’s. The scenery is tops.
