What's a guy to do? How I think leasing a JT works......a guide for others

Which option should I go with?

  • Drive my rusty 235,000 mile Grand Caravan until I’m ready financially to buy a Rubicon Gator

  • Do a 2-3 year lease on a Sport S with decent options~ $445 per month and hope I can get a Gator afte

Holy Crap . . . these bits & pieces may be of "questionable help" to some, but the bottom line, for YOU, is Your Decision and I'm not gonna influence it, other than to say (from the very 1st post) sounds like you DON'T NEED the Rubicon Version.
A Sport S (like for me) will do just fine 99.9% of the time - less complex underpinnings, less weight for the 3.6L to drag around. IF you NEED the added Front Articulation or Serious Lockers - years from now, they can be added at that time.
and you'll Initially be spending a LOT LESS for the S version. Sounds like you don't NEED the bells & whistles of the 8.4" either (Rubicon) - just more "Toys for Boys" to play with when they should be concentrated on The Driving ! The ONE thing I would add is the Front Camera . . . who knows perhaps Jeep way wise-up and at least offer it as an option on the Sport S next years models ! ?

Well depending on the residuals/interest that comes back, i've already committed to a lease on a white Sport S. from @spenchey in Spirit Lake. Now, where a dealer is located should come into play for you guys if you're really crunching numbers. Here's my breakdown.
Spencer just took the wind out of my sails. My favorite choice of these 4 was to drive my 2008 Grand Caravan to the dealer, trade it in and drive home with the Truck. But he has no use for a van with 231,000 miles.....fair enough.

So while i was hoping to actually get paid for my trip (kinda), i won't be. Some guys would calculate in the cost of their time, and normally on a business decision I would do the same, but i'm thinking of this as an adventure. I'm not sure if the memories of flying from CWA to MSP, then getting a rental car and driving home my new girl is worth the extra time involved................

For example, if I flew to msp rent a car, pay for gas ect, it would be about $393. For only $82 more I could have just had it delivered........and saved like 641 minutes of my life.

I'm really on the fence now. Have an adventure and save a few bucks, or spend more time at home.. ... I guess only I can determine that.

do they have the White Sport S in stock already? or are you ordering it? Im looking to either get a Sport S or an Overland, in white also. and also contemplating a leave (and purchase at the end) or loan.... ?

sounds like you're in my boat, checking out all options available

The sport S is a pre-spec being sent to the dealer, not on the lot yet.
