Wheel and Tire setup question

About to pull the trigger on some new wheels and tires, just took delivery of my JT on 8/7, my first truck/Jeep. Not really familiar with the scene. Done some homework and I think the wheels/tires I want will fit fine, just looking for some second opinions.

‘21 Texas Trail Ecodiesel, don’t think it’s max tow. Window sticker shows 3.73 gear ratio.

Wheels/tires I want:
Fuel Covert 18x9 -12 offset
BFG KO2 315/12.5/18

Won’t be doing much off roading as of yet. Plan on the mopar lift sometime in February next year.

Any advise/input would be appreciated.

I've read that if you're going to 35's, you'll likely need to regear if you're running 3.73 ratio. There seems to be great debate on whether or not you'll need a lift, I suspect that while it's true that you can stuff 35's under your non-Rubicon, you'll likely need a lift if you intend to do much more than hitting the speed bumps at the local mall.

35 and 3.73 is entirely dependent on where you drive and what you tow. If you're in the hills a lot or tow, plan on a regear imo. If you are a flatlander most of the time, it will be fine but you will have a hard time with 8th gear.

I am always in the flats and around town you don't notice it at all. On the highway higher speeds it's mostly 6th some 7th gear 8th gear is not really there.

When I get to the Sierra's on some steeper stuff esp highway steep stuff it can be a real drag.

Psst….he’s a diesel. He’ll barely notice any difference at all. Diesel + 35s = love

And, he’ll see 8th a LOT and only occasionally will he drop to 7th.

Im mostly on the flat lands here in Texas. I’ll maybe off road once a year if I’m lucky. The JT is going to be my daily, but I want that aggressive look.

All diesels have the heaviest duty cooling and higher amp alternator. Not having the tow package means you’re only missing the 2” hitch and trailer zoom camera.

Ignore these guys advice on gearing. They missed you saying diesel.

No idea about the axles, I do have a tow package and the trailer zoom camera. Here’s my window sticker of that helps

That’s okay, not a big deal. An aftermarket wheel with right backspace/offset will do the same. You should be good for 35’s. If you go off-road and get twisted up, slight chance you could rub.
Lifting it this winter will cure any issues.

I would recommend 17” wheels over 18. Cheaper tires, easier to find replacements. Better for off-road having more sidewall.

Awesome, I think I’m gonna go with the set up I mentioned, I’ve seen them used on some JT and they look good.
