I know my own mental limitations so I idiot proof my setup. Keep it simple stupid.

So you never use reverse (I was a passenger in a pu truck with bikes/rack in back - assumed my friend was going to check mirror and backup cam; by the time I mentioned there was a car behind us……at least the bikes were not damaged)?

Well my backup camera still works with the bike pad, but I can't guarantee no user error.

The only idiot in this video is the person filming. We all forget things, it happens but surely the person filming could have helped avoid this tragedy.

This topic brought back a great memory.

Growing up in St Louis we had a detached 3 gar garage. Each parking spot had its own garage door.

All of us kids [8] were required to stand by the house until the car was out of the garage.

Twice in three years I watched my mom walk in through the garage door left open by my dad and back right through the closed garage door. :CWL:

In '68 my mom was going to take me and a couple of friends to a Cardinals baseball game.

My dad, in a moment of insanity, told my mom she could take his brand new '68 GTO with the big block 400 cubic inch engine, 4 barrel carb, and 4 speed Muncie rock crusher transmission [with the hood tach of course]. Why? Because it had air conditioning. The fact that she was 7 months prego with kid number 8 might have had something to do with it. ;)

So my dear old mom [after opening the garage door] somehow hit the drivers side rear quarter panel against the side of the garage door opening. She realized it because she stopped. But then instead of driving forward she just gunned it in reverse and scraped the whole left side of the GTO. Needless to say no Cardinals baseball that day....

Especially when she takes the bike off the roof, drives past the height guage, stops, re-attaches the bike and drives into the automated car wash. New Suburban with paper tags. Happened at the 76 station in St. Andrews, SC. I was there.

Love my 1up hitch rack. Three fatbikes and a roadie. Works fantastic. this is also why I don't like roof racks, too easy to forget.
Glad to hear a 1up user, i just ordered mine!
