Which Vendors and Parts resellers are actually being honest about stuff in stock and ship dates?

This is really just a mini rant, but also really looking for advice.

Since the Pandemic last year, there have been shipping delays and issues, I completely understand that.

However, now a year later, I have had it with companies websites telling me things are in stock or ready to ship, then ordering them and finding out that's a lie.

Corsa has lied to me twice now, first about the system actually being in stock, and again when they said it would ship this week, now its at the end of the month and they admit they cant even guarantee that.

Quadratec pulled the same thing on me with some rims recently. I call before I place the order, get assured they have them in stock ready to ship. Order them, a week goes by, call again, get told they were not actually in stock.

Who is still being honest with their inventory and ship dates? I would really love to order an exhaust system and rims, but I am not going to pay for something then wait three months to get it. I will hold onto my money until its actually in stock.

Sorry for the rant, I've just had it. I run a tech support company myself, and getting certain replacement parts or even laptops in can be hit or miss, but I do not lie to my customers about what's in stock and ship times.

I have always dealt with Northridge 4x4. They keep their counter on each product pretty much up to date. For example, I ordered the wrong size shocks. Called to work out exchange and saw that they had 4 of the right size in stock. While on the phone, they set up shipping of my new ones to be sent out. After the call, I checked and sure nuff, it had already changed to show they had 3.

I will give them a shot. Thank you.

Ours is 100% accurate. If it says add to cart, it’s in stock. If it says back order, we’ll it’s out of stock. www.dasmule.com
Northridge4x4 is great too. Their system should be dead on also (we’re friends with those guys).

Quadratrac is infamous for that, and having a completely pain in the ass inability to cancel an order. I had to receive and then RMA a Curt controller they didn't have, months after they couldn't/wouldn't cancel the order.

@Northridge4x4 is solid, as @JMJ52876 and @Steven_B have mentioned. Zero ambiguity as to what is in stock and what is drop shipped and what is backordered. On my way to check out www.dasmule.com right now.

I dont blame build to order manufacturers for big delays right now, or not knowing how to display their build time on their site. It's a wildly moving target and it would be nearly impossible for them to maintain on their site.

COVID made a lot of people want to go off roading more, their lead times kind of blew up on them. i.e. before I ordered my JCR fenders I checked stock at every site I could find that resells them, all said it's backorder build to order at this point. So I just went right to JCR and they said it would be like 8 weeks. So it is what it is, but they were able to let me know up front.

There's also simply no way for a site like Quadratec to know the backorder time from their vendors.

I actually understand that completely. My problem is when I'm being lied to about whether or not it's in stock. Just be upfront and tell me that you have no idea when it's coming and everything is fine. But if you keep promising me a date that something's going to be here and keep missing it, you're screwing my life up and just that's a generally shitty business practice.

Oh I know, I have been bitten by the Quadratec false stock bug a lot too.

We as a small, but growing company, hear the stories every day from people looking for products. The big companies take people's money and keep extending the eta and make refunding the order hard. It's really not that hard, if you are transparent as best as you can about the etas, people will usually purchase from you. For example, we are a big Four Wheel Camper dealer, current eta is 69 weeks on new orders. Doesn't stop people from coming in almost every day to place an order.
