I always through the premium top (twill maybe) had a tinted window and the base did not. I picked up a premium used and
It is nicely tinted.

FWIW I have the JL with the hard top.
While I still think it was the right choice for majority of time with the JL (rear hatch & wiper functions, less noise from the side windows) I am constantly in search of a decent deal on a used soft top.
I have the JT with the soft top.
I never think about getting a hard top.

Soft top here, no regrets. Hell, it was one of the reasons why I got the gladiator instead one of the competitors. I'd be remissed if I picked a convertible truck that rarely gets the top off.
