YOU are not confused and it is NOT a problem.
I don’t think anyone said it was a problem. I took op’s post as him just not liking the feature. Some people may not like the interior lit up at night.

What IS kind of strange is they put a light there but not in the glove box where you might actually need one. I still like the light in the cup holder though. It's pretty cool.

so the Cops can see what are your foot size :lipssealed:
...or what type of heels you are wearing

I broke the one in my JL trying to get it out for a Dew spill, problem solved. I thought it would pop right out like my JK...pulled too hard for this Jeep.

I'll leave the one in the JT alone.

So you can see where you spilled the coffee... dummy. I saw an oem light in a brand new Chevrolet truck that lit only the floor board. When the owner asked what it was for, I told him it's so you can see who stepped in the dog shit.....

Well I want to know why the cupholder isn't removable for cleaning. My puppy puked in it last weekend. And I wasn't pleased to clean up the mess. Lucky for me he cleaned it all back up. Good doggy. :whew:

Anyone change the light bulb in the cup holder or the foot wells?

They're LEDs.
The light in the cup holder is tied into the instruments lights, not the ambient lighting.
And the nearly invisible door handle lights are part of the ambient lights, along with the foot well lights (if you have them.)

Go figure.

Didn't even know it had door handle lights. I was thinking of putting some orange LED's in the cup holder and footwells. And I guess the door handles now.

Is this and easy project? Only had mine a few days and had to travel for 2 weeks so not that familiar yet.

They're most likely all SMD LEDs on small circuit boards.
The only ones I've looked at closely were the foot well lights, but I'd imagine the others are similar. So you'd have to get to the circuit boards, and change out the SMDs (surface mount devices,) which can be a challenge.
