I was at a dealership yesterday and noticed that the seven slots in the gloss black Willys grill are each about 1/2” wider than openings on the non gloss black grills found on other models. The gloss black grill does not have a plastic trim around the inside of the slot opening. This results in an increase in opening size of about 6.5 sq in per grill slot, or about 45.5 sq in in total grill opening. There were no diesels on the lot so I didn’t have a chance to compare those grills. For those that are looking for more air flow through the grill, maybe the gloss black Willys grill is worth checking out. Wether the opening increase in the grill translates to an increase in the efficiency of the cooling system I cannot say. I tried searching for a discussion on this topic, but did not readily find one.
