A once in 10 years snow storm rolled through central Texas dropping around 3” of snow. During the heaviest part of the snow I ran a few errands (Gladiator handled the drive very nicely!). During the drive I came to a stop and a bunch of snow slid from the roof onto my front window, upon which the windshield wipers compacted the snow on the downward stroke. Then the wipers simply froze and refused to continue working. I had to climb out to clear the snow, cycle the wipers on/off before they moved again... Is this normal for Jeeps?

Normal for any vehicle. That's why I keep my roof clean, even here in up state NY a lot of drivers don't and I don't understand it.

Couple random thoughts:
  • Even if the wipers kept working, you want to clear the vents in the cowel behind the hood. That's where the air is entering your vehicle to be warmed up.
  • In some states you are legally responsible and at fault if ice/snow comes off your vehicle and causes an accident. All the way up to vehicular homicide.
