Completing the install of Rebel Off Road summit series rear bumper. Last step is to wire the license plate bolts that they use with their bumper to illuminate the rear plate. Their instructions say simply to wire the light bolts into your factory license plate light wires.

Light bolts come with a basic red and black wire. Factory wires have the usual connector. Do you just clip the connector off and splice wires together then heat shrink wrap them?

If so, I have red and black wires from the bolts and factory connector has a black and white wire running into the connectors. What the right sequence?

Thanks in advance.

Try it one way and see if it works.
If not, reverse it.
You won’t hurt anything.

In regard to the connector on the stock plate light harness. Yes, you can just cut it off... but you also could just tape it over and then splice into the plate light harness, up a few inches from the covered connector.

Many guys/gals prefer to not cut/bastardize a factory cable/connector unless they have no other choice. Reason being warranty concerns.

As for your wire colors... On the stock plate light harness, it should be black is power and white is ground. You'd think the wires from the light bolts are red for power and black for ground. So, with that said wire up accordingly.
That is what I was thinking, but the white wire threw me a bit.

Will give it a whirl black power from harness to red power on bolts then white ground harness to black ground bolts.

If not, then we switcher like Kevin said.

Thanks.
