I originally purchased mine from Z automotive for $189 2 years ago. Looks like I may need to replace it and not really wanting to spend that much for the 2nd time.
Has anyone purchased the non Z automotive ones on Amazon that are running around $40 ? The reviews look fairly good.
Please let me know how the aftermarket ones have worked for you.
Thanks

I have a set waiting to be installed so can't speak to quality. I've been putting it off mostly because I've been swamped with work - but also because I've not read what the "cons" are to bypassing the locker sensor?

So what's the risk (if any) to bypassing this sensor rather than replacing it?

I've had it on for 2 years now and haven't seen any drawbacks at all. My issue is the wiring has become brittle and I am starting to see the copper so I am contemplating replacing it.
It will only take you about 5 minutes to install.

It's definitely a concern. I wish Z Automotive had a better warranty and I wouldn't have to even consider it.
we also have to remember that Z Auto made the video and has a vested interest in scaring people from using what could quite possible be a much less expensive alternative.

Or use this an excuse to replace the diff fluid and fix the root of the problem. In my JL I just pulled the sensor drilled it flushed it out with electrical contact cleaner, blew it out and let it completely dry for a couple days, then used potting compound. Never had a problem with it again.

You can also buy new sensors. There are several good write ups on how to do it.
