In September I am relocating from Colorado to Rhode Island to take care of my Mom after my Dad passed away in January. One issue I had was my precious JCR rack and cargo basket combo sat too tall to fit in my Mom's carport. So, I replaced both with an RCI half rack, Naturnest Sirius 2 RTT, and a T-Mat bed organizer mat which allows me to slide my cargo boxes, etc. out to the tailgate since I don't really have room to climb in the back anymore. I haven't tested the tent yet and I still need to finish mounting my solar shower, 270 degree awning, MaxTrax, Rotopacks, etc. I like the way it sits and maybe the lower profile will give me some improvement in highway miles. One can always hope, right

I'm about 80% set on a cap, but those half racks sure do look nice. I like the new setup! Let us know how it works once you get to test it.

I actually was going to go with either the Lone Peak or Tune canopy camper set up, but it made the Gladiator to tall and being a Mojave, the weight was a concern too.

Im kinda the same way on the height aspect. One of my Main reasons for being a ground dweller while camping. I don’t want that weight up top and I really don’t want to be taking it on and off all the time. The half rack looks to be a good compromise.

I was happy to have picked up the iKamper Raconteur half-height rack for a decent discount, and now it seems that iKamper is keeping that 40% off discount going.

Luckily, it works well, keeps everything wonderfully low and I can also use the inside of it to attach molle plates to. I'm looking at taking a 6th wheel/tire and getting a y-shaped tie down to attach it to the ceiling (underside) of my rack rails.

The grab handles in the back are a godsend for hopping up onto the tailgate and bed as well.

Add onto that a full set of molle for the bed, and I have mucho attachment points and space to secure anything and everything for long trips and carriage.

The one thing you should do, though, is if your bed rack offers the extra molle panels, like the ones in my second photo get them for the outside AND inside of the rack. Highly useful.

Thanks, I thought about the extra collection panel idea, I may look into that. I had a front panel on my JCR rack that worked great, but I have now lost that storage location.

Nice setup! I’m looking into the aluminum RCI rack and a Naturnest RTT (Sirius 1 Plus) as well. Do you happen to know the dynamic load capacity of the rack? I emailed RCI with that question, but so far I haven’t received any response from them.

*This rack has been unofficially tested in-house to support as much as 1500lbs static load but depending on factors such as bed width, truck model, ect. we recommend approximately 750lbs as a benchmark for static capacity (weight on rack when parked / sleeping in tent etc). This is simply a guideline, as always use your best judgement on safety when heavily loading the rack.

I can tell you from experience, you may have a helluva time mounting your 270 awning. Your roof top tent clamshells opened and when doing that, the hard case will not clear an awning mounted off to the side. I hope I’m wrong but I ran into this very same scenario with a 1/2 rack and my iKamper Skycamp mini RTT. Good luck!

Nope, the tent clears the brackets for the awning when opened with no issues. I did have to order a different style up right that sticks out 2" further so that the awning clears the rear corner of the cab on the driver's side.

Good deal! I think part of my problem was the width of the iKamper case was 55” wide and it looks like your tent case is 49” wide. I said to myself before, “if I only had 6 less inches of width…..”
