Been shooting raptor liner on my armor and beds for awhile but given my glady is brand new and I wasn’t sure if the bed had any nuances that weren’t well documented yet, I figured full send after learning line-x is on a nationwide shortage. The best the 3 line-x shops within 100 miles could do was put me on a waitlist.

$220 later (including gun that comes with the standard kit) and done in half a day. I love this stuff and needed it lined ASAP as it’s blocking the cargo rack and RTT.

It’s curing but happy with the results. Not pictured is the thorough scuffing and post acetone wipe.

Nicely done Rocco (sorry, that's a Boondock Saints reference)! HUGE fan of Raptor liner, looking at doing the fenders on my Gladiator like I did on my '17 Gobi JKUR (did the fenders, bumpers and grill on that) and several other JKs in our family and love that stuff!

Thanks man! It’s been about a year and it’s cool that they now include a cheap regulator. I’ve got one on the compressor but I also run 50’ of line so it helped a ton. Wrapped it in teflon, the gun of course feels mega cheap but gets the job done and I hate gun cleanup and don’t feel guilty if I toss it afterwards.

Only problem I ever had with Raptor liner was an operator headspace and timing issue...compressor was accidentally turned OFF after its initial fill but as soon as I saw it laying on thick I stopped and you sure as hell couldn't tell the difference.

Funny story, I had my JKUR parked outside a McDonald's (I know, 🤮 I can count on one hand the number of times I've eaten there in the last DECADE...ANYWAY) and there's two older ladies that are literally rubbing my fenders...! I asked if I could help them and they asked what was on them and how it looked "neat", after which they jumped into a pretty clean XJ and motored on their way.

I got hooked on it a few years back when I ran into a guy on TDY in temporary housing who had done his entire 12V Ram. He went OD on top with black rocker panels, bumpers, fender arches, grill, etc. and it was SICK.

Whenever people complain about their (Jeep) factory black fenders fading, THIS is the solution. Not only does it look cool and significantly toughen up the surface, the object it's being applied to doesn't have to be in exactly perfect condition for starters...

Looks good for about a year and half then it starts coming off plastic. Maybe two years tops. It's made for metal not plastic and it will eventually come off and look like crap, all of it does when applied to plastic. One of the reasons line-x refuses to do plastic anymore. I've never saw any hold up to time when applied to plastic and once it gets time on it you can't touch it up without telling where you did it. If you want to keep your plastic fenders from fading hit them with Back to Black about every 8 weeks, doesn't take much and they will never fade.

I use CQuartz UK 3.0 ceramic. Little $60 vial will do multiple cars and lasts for 2+ years up here in the poconos. Glass, plastic, wheels and all. Love that stuff nearly as much as raptor. It leaves black plastic looking rich and dark, but not slimy, a nice rich satin. B2B is great but with little ones, I can’t maintain a bi-monthly anything hah.

Well that's disappointing. I was coming for something entirely different.

First I've heard of it...funny, running my JKUR for over 3 years ago in one of the harshest environments in the US, beating on them mercilessly in the process and they still look the way they did the day I did them. Just like any painting process it's all about the prep and with the innumerable YouTube videos, including long term application, I've yet to see it come off in the manner you're speaking off like it was Plasti-dip or something. According to their own website, It's suitable for application on:

Concrete
Deckboard
Hardwood
Softwood
MDF
Plasterboard
Plywood
PVC
SWIMMING POOL

Pardon my incredulity, this is literally the first I've heard about it and I've used the product pretty extensively (non-commercially) over the past few years with ZERO issues that weren't operator/applicator induced.

I did the raptor liner on my gmc when I had it I spent 5 hours cleaning scuffing and cleaning and did the liner, I think I spent 8 hours total , turned out great, I just had issues of it getting rubbed off after a couple years, not sure if I did t lay it on thick enough or what, but yours looks great! I just don’t spend the time to do mine anymore, just rather pay line x to do mine

Right on, line-x availability was the issue for me although I like that I can refresh it prior to resale as I’ve still got hardener and 1 full bottle left. As you know, our beds are tiny so there’s plenty extra in the standard kit.

I don't wanna assume anything but it sure sounds like you're trying to be a smart azz...

I did a ton of research before using it as I certainly didn't wanna crap up my $50K+ Jeep, but since you seem to have such a difficult time with accepting reality, I'm more than happy to post the search results from YouTube for "Raptor liner problems". All sorts of people with WAY more time/experience using the products on various surfaces of their vehicles and it seems like in the rare occasion there is a problem, it was due to faulty prep/human error, not the product itself.

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=raptor+liner+problems

TLDR, OP did a fantastic DIY using an equally fantastic and durable product, I'm not gonna muck up or otherwise crap in his thread...

Don't need a YouTube video, I know and have saw plenty of the results of using it on plastic, even with really good prep work, it don't last. Now on my hinges on my JKU and on metal surfaces it does great. That's reality, real world experience. I know probably in the past 15yrs or so we'll over 50 people who have used it on plastic, probably 30 or more in our jeep club, and none of those guys had luck with it on plastic, long term. It looks great for about 2yrs or so then when it starts coming off it's hard to cover and looks like crap. Just saying, no bedliner does well on plastic. For reference some of these people I'm speaking of do body and paint work for a living so they know what their doing. I'm not knocking the stuff, I just know it's hard to get it to sticks and stay on plastic. That's my JKU with the fenders and hinges done. Those fenders looked awesome for about 2yrs then it start to peel. Hinges were done before the fenders and it was still on them when I sold it. Same company did both

That's awesome. I just got my tintable kit with Basalt Grey to paint my new Overlanding Trailer. I can't wait!
