Here's a new one. WTF? The only thing I can think of is the little rubber air bleed from the DEF jug went into the tank with the fluid, but it floats...the pickup should be at the bottom.

Could be stale DEF that is out of date. DEF has a shelf life dependent on temperature. Higher the temp, shorter the shelf life.

A few years ago I made a huge mistake by not pulling off the foil seal on a quart of oil, I would always just puncture them with my thumb by pushing them in the pulling the flap out of the way. My heart sank when almost the entirety of a foil seal went into my motor. We ended up tearing that motor (coyote 5.0) down for a build a year later and never found it but prior to that I was anxiety ridden out of fear it would block my oil pickup.

My guess would be this is the error that happens to be thrown if foreign objects and/or an unexplainable fault occurs. Zero chance Stellantis engineers would program a condition for this remote of an edge case. In theory it should float but I’d waste no time theorizing and head to the dealer. You made a simple mistake that anyone could have made. An hour or two of labor later and they may be able to pull and drain your DEF tank.

Did you find a solution? The exact same thing just showed up in mine. Almost 100% certain the rubber bleed thingy is in my DEF tank.

I used a def container for water for our little farm tractor and left it in the cardboard box with the lid on and the damn funnel in it too, my F250 was low low and not thinking I saw the box in the shop and filled her up. A few miles later the little wet fart light came on and said it was going to reduced power mode in 40 miles. Didn’t want to go to the dealership the next day so I went to town got 2 containers of def, came home now down to 29 miles before reduced power. Took a length of 3/8 fuel line and attached it to my wet/dry shop vacuum and proceeded to suck it all out. Then drove it until I had 1mile until reduced power and added 4 gallons of def drove home and light cleared up haven’t had any issues yet and that was about 7 months ago. And I no longer keep empty def containers around!

It eventually went away. Seems to come back when I add DEF, but goes away quickly.
