Hello,

I have a new 2022 Gladiator Rubicon with some 35" tires on it. I'm a bit shorter inseam wise and my wife's even shorter, would like some help so I don't wear out the side of the seat right away.

I'm not a rock crawler and my off roading skill level honestly means I'll probably whack a few rocks here and there.

I've been looking for a set of sidesteps that are tough enough for my lightweight offroading but also perform well as steps.

I've looked at the electric retractable models, and that might be the way I go, but I like the idea of simple and looking right on the rig.

I know so much of it is personal preference but what do you recommend for my needs?

Thank you in advance.

I'm not sure if this is of interest to you. I just picked up one of these to put on the passenger side for my 5' 1" wife.

It tucks up when not in use and is actually removable in about 1 minute in case you get into heavy gnar.

Am 5’-4” with 35s and a 3” lift. I have LOD slider steps on my JT and my wife’s JL (she is 5’-6” and her legs are 6” longer than mine- ha).

RSE always gets my vote. Retractable, durable And blend well.

That’s my vote as well. I love mine, and I do rock crawl on tough trails. They hold up very well, make it easy to get in and out, and look great. They also help a ton with splash up. I no longer have a need for mud flaps to keep crud off the door handles.

Thank you everyone. I appreciate the LOD and Mountainoffroad recommendations but I keep going back to the RSE. I was hoping to avoid spending so much but if it works and keeps me from mashing my shins and making me feel like I bought my big brother's truck then maybe it's the right one.

I like my factory rock rails and want to keep them. Unfortunately, I can't find simple steps for placement under the front doors without modification or welding.

Hey now, we didn't say you wouldn't mash your shins with these :D
It takes a bit, mentally, to get adjusted with them being there.... as in... don't stand right next to the Jeep when you open the door. And warning others that they are going to pop out and come down before they do the same and stand too close. haha.

They are ABSOLUTELY worth it though. :)

I love my RSEs as they have saved me a few times on the rocks, but they do require a good bit more maintenance. After 2.5 years of ownership, I had to replace the gas assist strut inside the unit. Its an easy fix once you get the steps off the truck.

As so many posted above, the RSE slider steps are the way to go if you want a tough slider and a functional step:
RSE Step Sliders JT: https://www.northridge4x4.com/part/...0-jt4-rock-slide-engineering-step-slider-kit?

As sliders, they are designed to be used and abused off-road. RSE even offers an add-on skid plate to make them even tougher for those wanting to really push the envelope.

The steps drop down 12", making it easy for those vertically challenged members of the family to climb in, even with 37s.
