would like some help so I don't wear out the side of the seat right away.
For simplicity, aesthetic, and function for both step and slider, rock hard patriot angled down are hard to beat.
Rock Crawler makes a great adjustable step.

I do like the look of those as they hide the body pinch weld. They look kind of slippery when stepping on with snow.
There have been a few members who've put anti-slip tape on the contact surfaces and make it look decent.

I like my factory rock rails and want to keep them. Unfortunately, I can't find simple steps for placement under the front doors without modification or welding.
Steinjager (formerly known as Ace Engineering) Rock Sliders. Ace acquired by Steinjager. These work with Rubicon Rock Rails, attach to existing body mount brackets, and act as a step. Bad part is, they were ~$800 before COVID supply chain craziness.

Holly f@$k!!!! Are they made out of gold?
Milled out of solid block of billet aluminum, at any rate. Then coated.

They sell some full length ones like that for Bronco's - said they start from one 12' x 5" x 1.75" block of aluminum.

At any rate yea - $500 a pair is steep.

Hello,

I have a new 2022 Gladiator Rubicon with some 35" tires on it. I'm a bit shorter inseam wise and my wife's even shorter, would like some help so I don't wear out the side of the seat right away.

I'm not a rock crawler and my off roading skill level honestly means I'll probably whack a few rocks here and there.

I've been looking for a set of sidesteps that are tough enough for my lightweight offroading but also perform well as steps.

I've looked at the electric retractable models, and that might be the way I go, but I like the idea of simple and looking right on the rig.

I know so much of it is personal preference but what do you recommend for my needs?

Thank you in advance.

Chumley
There are a lot of recommendations on this thread for RSE. I wish I could agree, but unfortunately I've found out that they don't stand by their product. I am glad that a lot of people have had success with these, which is the reason I purchased them in the first place.

The motor on the driver's started failing shortly after install. They replaced it once with a motor that must've been a poorly rebuilt refurb, because it failed shortly thereafter. It has now been replaced two more times by my local authorized installer, and RSE has chosen to charge for the replacements and wouldn't cover any labor during the warranty period. So, I'm on my fourth motor now after having these installed last year. Currently it's holding out, but honestly I don't have much confidence. When the work, I love them. My dealer tells me they redesigned them now, but given their lack of customer service, he won't work with them anymore. To be clear, the driver's side step has never worked for more than a couple months.

I’ve had the exact opposite experience. I can beat the crap out of them and they hold up. And their support has been nothing short of amazing.

I'm legitimately happy to hear that. I'm not really going out of my way to speak negatively about them, as I know not everyone has the same experience. But, I just figured it was worth sharing.

The problem must not be the motor. Assuming the engineering is sound, given all the positive experience from others, I would guess there is something with your driver's side mechanism that is causing the motor to fail. Maybe it is not aligned properly? or there is excessive friction? there is an excessive voltage drop due to bad crimps? I honestly have never seen one of these things at all, but going through 4 motors does not make sense. The problem must be elsewhere.

Maybe so, but these are the conclusions that were arrived at with the installers talking to the engineers at RSE. Obviously, there is and has been something askew. I guess it's just disappointing to me as a consumer that it wasn't 'made right'. These clearly are not cheap sidesteps, and I guess I just expected more effort from the manufacturer to make things right.

Of course. I agree. I didn’t mean my post to be argumentative at all. But for me, RSE has gone out of their way to help. I damaged my armor cosmetically only and called them to buy new hardware for it, so I could reinstall after cleaning them up. They sent it for free. I’ve had several similar experiences with them.

Agreed. I ended up adding some grip tape for mine so they are less slippery when wet, but they are well built, follow the curve of the vehicle (not all steps/rails do this) and do a great job covering the pinch weld.
