Anyone else seeing insurance premiums rise? I had added a second Jeep and they quoted me (numbers rounded and simplified) $750 per 6 months for both Jeeps. Quote was from yesterday. Got an email today stating my renewal (Nov 2022) would increase my rates to $1000 per 6 months. I called, and was told "we have to raise our rates because everything is more expensive when we pay out for claims" - not because there were any marks on my account. Been with them for decades and am just ... stunned.

Any recommendations on which insurance company might not be either (a) scamming or (b) passing the buck onto the safe-driving consumer?

Thanks.

Geico is consistently the lowest cost of major providers, so I doubt you'll have much luck shopping around. FWIW we pay about 1,000 for a Jeep and a VW Golf. So two Jeeps at 1000 seems about right or even cheap (of course, location playing a huge role).

Oddly, our 2017 Golf with 80k miles on it costs us more for full coverage than the Jeep. The latter I have registered as a non-commuting 2nd vehicle though (golf as commuter).

Ugh, just went to Experian to cross-match quotes and everywhere else is more expensive. I think you're right @Trailman.

if you have other insurance like home owners or what not could tried to see if they offer a discount for insuring both through them.

but with prices staying high on everything it does cost more to repair which means we pay more sadly.

Appreciate the insight from others. I’m 49, own a home (also insured with GEICO, and am in PA). Just sticker shock as the increase is so drastic.

I dumped Geico years ago for the same B.S.
They had Zero reason to raise my rates, so I did shop around and I found multiple other companies with better rates.
I switched to Progressive, have saved a bunch of money and my rates go down each year, vs the opposite.

Probably because of me ????

They just spent $32k to fix my Mojave and are then gonna send me a decent amount for diminished value lol.

But seriously, they probably should have totaled it and they would have saved money. I doubt them doing this with me is the 1st time, so imagine how much money they’re actually wasting ….especially with the stupid high car values recently

Interesting topic... Wonder how much location has a play in rates. I have 21 JTM, 18 Outback and a overland trailer all full coverage and my premium went down. Now $1300 a year total....

$1340 through USAA for full coverage with low deductibles, rental car coverage and 20% extra replacement coverage. That’s for the JT, JLU and TJ. Also have renters and high dollar item insurance through them
