I had Farmers for my house, when I had Geico for my Cars/Motorcycle and they did that as well. I told my rep if you cant come up with a valid reason as to why my rates increased by 40% I can't come up with a valid reason to remain a customer.

I then consolidated that with Progressive and saved even more money.

Geico dropped me when they found out my TJ was modified.

Been with American Family since. TJ, Gladiator, Ram SRT10 and 91 Celica GT4 all full coverage is a whopping 1800 per 6 mo with a clean record, early 30s.

Making me think about downsizing my collection. Or looking into a specialty provider like Hagerty. It's not like I can drive all 4 at once...
I had GEICO when I first got my Comanche. I was being robbed each and every month the reason it's a Jeep. I changed to State Farm it was 1/3 the cost. My changed to USAA in mid 90s was due to State Farm not giving coverage for enlisted for overseas vehicle insurance but would for commissioned officers. ? :(

Dang I need to update my insurance now that I'm thinking about it. No work commute to Huntsville.

So i just quoted USAA (member since 1988 - i hate victory captial) USAA quote is 11$ more per 6 months than geico for me. Which is closer than last checked years ago. I switched to geico in 2015 from USAA based on price
Just switched my policy to my new gladiator with USAA and pay $453.00 / six months with a $200 comprehensive and $500 collision deductibles. Previously when I have shopped rates, I found lower premiums but none with the level of coverage I get from USAA. 2/3rds of my discounts come from military service, length of membership (17 years), and multi-product discount.

If you are shopping and eligible for USAA, I'd stick with them even if the premium was a bit higher because of the customer service and support experience I've had with them. They've covered me in multiple countries, have handled homeowner's claims without trouble, and have generally been trustworthy and reliable as a general service bank/insurance broker. For example, when I was in the service, I was doing a training mission in Poland when a drunk Bulgarian truck driver fell asleep and crashed into our line haul, exploding our ISU and scattering all of my kit across a remote highway. They paid out a renter's claim without issue.

To me, the relationship and trust are of significant value, and they just so happen to have provided me with excellent rates. When you do have a claim, it is inevitably under stressful circumstances, so if among the headaches you have to deal with, insurance is not one of them then that is a win.

Plus, at the end of every year, I get a rebate check because they operate as an insurance cooperative. Technically they are reciprocal insurance exchange which means they are owned by policyholders, but it is easier to think of them as a cooperative. As such, you can count on a fair rate based on actual accident incidence and costs among members since there are no shareholders taking a cut.

Jeep Gladiator GEICO rate increase of over 30% 1667173533431

*Edit to add the policy is for my spouse and me, both mid 30's, a clean record. Maryland address.

I had USAA, then liberty came through work and im saving 800$ a year. I gave them a call before I switched and they told me they can't match or come close for the same coverage. I'd love to go back to them tho.

I dumped Geico years ago for the same B.S.
They had Zero reason to raise my rates, so I did shop around and I found multiple other companies with better rates.
I switched to Progressive, have saved a bunch of money and my rates go down each year, vs the opposite.
I switched to progressive a couple years ago after getting them for my Harley insurance. $950ish for two jeeps every 6mo. NO ONE was able to beat them when i looked. Not even usaa
Who is almost always the lowest you can get. (IMO)

i can also say ive been pretty dang impressed with their customer service and ease of access. Aside from my roof I haven’t had any y claims.

For me- I would have to save “significant” money to switch from USAA…. They have got to be one of the easiest no bs insurance companies to deal with. Knock on wood- no at fault claims for us… but several family members share the same opinion (and they were at fault…). Easy day. They get you into your rental car easy, they don’t jack around with the shops for repairs…. Drop it at a preferred shop and it’s done man… good work, good communication, life is easy…

the only time I have not been with usaa was when we were stationed in Sicily…Sicily at the time had some of the highest insurance costs in the world…. I was a dude in my mid 20’s had to go with gico- as it was the only thing I could afford ($320 a month…. For a Kia optima… no lean…) anyways- we were rear ended and it was a total $hit $how to get repairs etc. didn’t see the car for 6+ months… would love to say it was the shop. It was the insurance…. Guy who hit us had the same insurance… ??? disaster… I remember all of my older friends at the same saying this is a get what you pay for deal…. Terrible service… terrible.

I agree they are a great company. When i lived in other states I was happy with USAA. Florida is not their sweet spot for rates is all i mean.

Anyone else seeing insurance premiums rise? I had added a second Jeep and they quoted me (numbers rounded and simplified) $750 per 6 months for both Jeeps. Quote was from yesterday. Got an email today stating my renewal (Nov 2022) would increase my rates to $1000 per 6 months. I called, and was told "we have to raise our rates because everything is more expensive when we pay out for claims" - not because there were any marks on my account. Been with them for decades and am just ... stunned.

Any recommendations on which insurance company might not be either (a) scamming or (b) passing the buck onto the safe-driving consumer?

Thanks.
Take some kind of certification of a safety driving school. Usually smith safety driving school is the go-to. They knocked me down to $620/6 months. Used to be $870.

0% surprised. price gouging in RAMPANT right now. yes there's been raw material increase but there's been layers and layers of gouging involved.

the issue for a company like an insurer is they see they very last back end of that gouging and then shops can gouge on labor as well.

Ask Geico to do a "credit based" analysis and quote.

I want to thank everyone for participating in this thread, it's helped a lot. Specifically, I called GEICO again today and asked for a credit-based analysis and quote.

The rep tried to dissuade me, at least passively, by stating GEICO had done too many credit-based quotes for me in recent history and could not do it until I had paid for a year at the higher rate ("next renewal"). When I asked when the last credit check they ran was? "2018".

I stated I appreciate his position but as my credit is much improved compared to 2018 and as GEICO had increased my rate over 30% from this year to next, I put on my Karen hat and respectfully asked to speak with a manager.

He ran the credit analysis and my new quote, same coverage, was around $575 per 6 months. Just over half what my renewal was set to be (around $1025 for 6 months). I had given ballpark numbers at the start of the thread, these are more accurate.

I had to ask him twice to make sure both Jeeps are included and at the same coverage.

Good outcome!!!! Thanks all.
