Has anyone installed the other MOPAR Steel bumper on a JT? It’s the Rubicon Offroad Bumper (Mopar #82215691AD). I have a Mojave and wondering if I will need to alter the skid plate and buy a bracket for LED lights. I‘m also wondering if anyone has the winch guard for sale. I bought is second hand. Thanks in advance!

I’m not sure how I feel about this bumper. It looks better than the factory plastic one but still looks too much like a knock-off replica. Maybe seeing it in person would make me feel different.

Doesn't look "industrial" enough for me. JTs, like Wranglers, etc., have the exposed hinges, bolts and screws, obvious panel assembly points, no attempt to clean and smooth the bodies and hide fasteners or have disappearing hinges or latches.
So IMO the stock plastic bumper fits that idea, but the steel Rubicon 3 piece bumper fits it even more.
I know it's anti-mpg, anti-green, anti-efficient, but it wreaks industrial with obvious joints, exposed screws, etc.

Even the plastic Overland bumper has a mesh-like look that reminds me of extruded aluminum or hardware cloth, is less smooth and rounded than the "third" MOPAR bumper option.
The look is more angular, less rounded and a lot less smooth.

Yeah, I'm old fashioned but I don't care for the bumperless look, integrated bumpers, or those that look smooth, rounded and plastic.
I like angles, industrial looks.

Quail 01, I love that bumper looks finished instead of something just bolted together, I have a Mojave and if going steel that would be a top contender. Looking at the picture it is not a Mojave or Rubicon plastic bumper skid, you will probably have to get a metal skid for the metal bumper. Better yet reach out to Benny allmoparparts parts.com, they are a forum vendor he will tell you the part number needed and if it is a special one for that bumper. Also the front remote shock res. brackets might be an issue but not sure. Post up a few pictures as you mount it, and also get the weight of it for kicks. Nice bumper!…..Jack

Will do! I picked up a used bumper for $50 and am exploring this idea or mount winch in plastic bumper. I’ll probably decide tomorrow and will take many pictures of the final product. :)

Yes! The shackle mounts are a big plus. The shackles seem to bolt on separately, just below the tow hooks. It’s a really neat bumper, and great looking in person. It came with a massive winch plate, so I’ll compare it and the weight to the LOD winch plate, tomorrow. I’m trying to mount a Badlands ZXR 12k so I don’t even know if it will fit inside of the plastic bumper yet. It will definitely fit in the steel bumper with no modifications, but I’ll be sacrificing some weight. Oh well…I’ll just have to lift it. Haha…and the mod fever continues. :)

Looks to me to be like the Rubicon skid for the other steel bumper. It's not really looking like the plastic air dam - from here anyway.

A couple of members have done the winch in plastic bumper and it looks great - not to mention saving 50 pounds

Front shackle mounts don’t look too bad have four bolts through side of frame for each one, plus attached to bumper. Yup you should not bother installing it, I’ll flip ya the $50 bucks!
Winch should fit others have done it, it’s tight and you might want to get a pair of 1/4”or 3/8” spacers, a forum member sells here. You should install it, it’s different and pretty nice setup….Jack

Quail01, just realized you asked me about my winch in plastic bumper, I did save a lot of weight and even at the 75 lbs. total added there was more that should have been subtracted so more like 70 pounds total, BUT a lot of work and time instead of just bolting on like the one you have. ….Jack

Couldn’t have said it better. Hood latches and all, it looks made for purpose which it essentially is.

MOPAR bumpers are not good bumpers and they're too expensive anyway.

This is an interesting process, for sure. Since I have a Mojave with LED fog lights, I will need a fog light bracket ($20) and a rubicon skid plate with hardware. I can pick up a cheapish skid plate ($100) but it doesn’t have the hardware. Will need to source the skid plate hardware; specifically the lower brackets, which are connection points for this bumper.
