I'm in my 40s (Gen X) and I don't remember a lot of these Frankenstein gelatin / Jello concoctions. Must have been a Boomer strategy to promote human (and probably kanine) vomiting. ??

Wow people were really starving to death in the 50's, huh?
Just finding creative ways to use up what was in the refrigerator. I hate wasting food but can't say that I am a fan of these concoctions.
Gelatin was at one point a rich person's food. The effort that it took to render down collagen to make it was time consuming and expensive. Then came instant Jell-o and it was a novelty.

I'm glad I didn't grow up when jello was a rich mans food.
