Wow... new owner with a Mojave... currently at 963 mile.

Best I got was forcing myself to stick to 65mph... got 19.1mpg for 85 miles.

But I can't drive 65! I can't drive like that all the time.... real world normal driving for me is around 70-80mph on the highway... at those speeds, I am getting 15mpg...

I knew going in that I was not going to get any good mpg from this vehicle... c'est la vie !

Nunzio , don't sweat it yet, get more miles on the Mojave, at least about 5,000, I was not getting great mileage until after that, I'm getting 17.5-18 around town in a rolling hilly area and hit 22 once on the highway. I live on the right side of Pa., and the Pittsburgh area is hilly. I just came back from surf fishing in Cape Hatteras and was thrilled at my MPG numbers while towing on the flat lands of coast getting 15.5 towing a camper, but hitting Virginia and Pa. put me back to 13 towing which is actually ok. The MPG really drops after 65 mpg, I usually run around 68-69 depending on speed limit......Jack

I just did a road trip from R.I. to central Florida. On the trip up, I got 24 mpg. On the way back, I got 27.4 mpg. Odometer now has 4,300 miles on it. I try to keep the rpm's below 2,000. Anything above that kills your mileage.
That on a diesel?

So reading this thread and a few others... when Jeep moved away from the additional fairing we took a hit on mpg.

This is starting to sound like a perfect excuse to go with the AEV EX High Flare bumper instead of the OEM or aftermarket knock-off 3-piece steel bumper...

I can imagine the conversation with my wife on this....

"Yes honey, it is US$3,075.00 for the AEV bumper.... but imagine the fuel savings we will get from it..."

I really like that bumper , but hate the huge protector bar, wish they offered it plain with no bar. You do need to be a responsible citizen and get that gas mileage up no matter what, and tell her it weighs less then the factory bumper, offers more protection, and improves gas mileage…hey my friend you can quote me on that and say you saw it on the internet…..Jack

Just for comparison, mine is lifted 2" with 35s. I can get up to 19mpg in the summer during 2+ hour highway driving around 65mph.

What speed were you driving? When (if) I let my brother-in-law drive, he consistently does 80+ mph and the mpg drops sometimes as low at 14mpg. I don't like to go over 70 because it starts chugging fuel.

I would imagine once the engine gets broken in, your average mpg should improve.

I mostly drive in town and get about 15 mpg. Sitting at 14.4 right now with 18000 miles. Been as low as 11 at highway speeds with heavy wind.

JTO here, and I average on stock tires between 20 ~ 21 in the mini mountains of Alabama.
Edit: for the record, my foot is knee deep in the air intake, I drive 5 to 10 over all the time.

The hills up there eat fuel mileage ratings alive. You might as well forget those advertised mpg numbers. That being said, I get about 14.5mpg around town here in Houston. I averaged 18mpg on my trip to Georgia driving 70-80mph (mostly flat). When I was in the hilly stuff in Alabama/Georgia, mpg was closer to 16.

35s and 4.10 gearing on mine so I could see the Mojave’s 33s getting 14 mpg in a more hilly area. Especially if the truck isn’t broken in yet

My stock Mojave didn't really start getting much over 16 mpg until it had a few thousand miles on it.

Be sure to occasionally make a full throttle run to redline to help with break in.
