My used but new to me JTR came on a set of Willys take offs complete with the OE Firestone MT's. Not wanting to daily the MT's and wanting a larger tire, I bought a set of second hand BFG KO2's in 305/65r17. While better, they didn't fill out the wheel wells as well as I thought they would. Wanting to go even bigger, I did my research and settled on a set of 35's, or 315/70r17's. Black Friday helped me accomplish this goal!

For the tires, I was between the Goodyear Territory MT (Bronco sasquatch package tire) and the BFG KO2's in the same size, 315/70r17, and both Load Range C. With this last set being my fourth set of KO2's, I knew they'd be great, but I found it hard to argue the value of the Goodyear. The GY's list for 270/ea and the KO2's are 329/ea ("Jeep" verison, their availability comes and goes, but its a better price over the "Ford" tire at 390ish/ea). The GY weighs in @ 55lbs/ea over the BFG's that are 63lbs (these numbers change slightly depending on where you look, some say the GY's are as little as 52lbs!). What sealed the deal on Black Friday was the $110 off Goodyear promotion, plus being able to take advantage of the Discount Tire Credit Card for an additional 5% off. Tires were $984 to my door, which I thought was a pretty great deal. Thanks @Discount Tire!

For the wheels, I randomly came across an ad banner for Rock Trix wheels. The wheels are attractive, get good reviews around here, and were also on some sort of promotional deal around BF. They were marked down from 229 to 159/ea. I also found a coupon code online for some additional percentage off. Price came to 632 to my door including a new set of lug nuts.

To wrap it up, I bought a new set of TPMS sensors on ebay for less than 40 bucks. I'm the weirdo in the neighborhood that has his own tire changer and wheel balancer in the garage, so I was able to get them mounted/balanced at home while enjoying a couple cold snacks. All in, I've got about 1650 into these.

I dont see many people running these tires, so I figured I'd toss up my initial remarks on them. They looks sweet, ride great and are currently very quiet. I had a set of Atturo Blade XT's in the past that got quite loud as they wore. With the GY being a similar tread design, I will keep an ear out for the same.

Onto the pics! The loose KO2 you see here is the 5th/spare that was provided when I bought the KO2's second hand.

@AHenery014, thank you for the shout out as well as posting your initial thought on the Goodyear Territory tires. I'm glad to hear you are liking them.

That's a bonus to have your own tire changer and balancer.

~800 mile review. Really liking these tires. Have the pressures cold at around 33/34psi and they perform very well. Its below freezing here and they provide all the traction confidence I need, ride comfortably, and are quiet. I have yet to experience their supposed fatal flaw of grabbing gravel/road debris and tossing it onto the side of the truck. Ive been down roads that would certainly allow it, along with all the crap they are spreading on the streets these days.

They offer two offsets (which you can convert to backspacing using various calculators), et-12 and et12. I went with et12 due to having a Rubicon with the wider axles and I didnt want a lot of poke. Et-12 would have stuck them out another inch or so. Rocktrix's fitment description is quite good, give it a read. I unfortunately dont have a profile pic for you, but the edge of the tread is just outside of flush with the edge of the fender. Perfect fitment in my opinion.

for those not in the know, USAA members get 25% off goodyears, which makes the Territories an even better value. I've been told this discount stacks with promotions (buy 3 get 1 free style) but don't have personal experience with it yet.

IMO USAA/goodyear 315/70s is the cheapest path to 35s short of praying one of the walmart blowouts isn't sports car tires this time.

When it's time for me to replace my walmart kendas, i'll almost certainly go goodyear if i stick with 35s

Couple months in and about 2800 miles on these; really liking them still. They have a hum to them that is inherent to the tread design, but its definitely tolerable and hasn't gotten worse. I have had WAY worse noise from other all terrains. They have performed very well in all the conditions I've had them in.

I did drop the Jeep off to have them road force balanced. My 18 year old balancer is good, but wasnt able to get these perfect. The dealer was cheap at only 68 bucks out the door to have them rebalanced, so I was very happy with that. They put a bit more pressure in them at around 38/39psi, which I have reduced slightly to 35psi on my gauge (the TPMS reads 36psi). It rides way smoother and I am way happier with them now. So, my opinion, find someone with a road force balancer to install your tires.

Rocktrix wheels are still very inexpensive. They clean up easily with very little effort (for now). I am very pleased with them other than the designed in area where water can collect. It dries up and leaves a puddle stain. Oh well.

+1 on rocktrix. Not bad for the money. Went with Kenda 35s, just keep wondering why so many lift kits are asking for 4.5 backspacing.. went with the +12 which comes to 5.5 backspacing and like the stance especially since pa is not liking lots of poke... Just wish I understood why the 4.5 requirements.

I believe the increased backspacing recs come from aftermarket control arms, which some do not have an inward bend like factory (also some bigger shocks can interfere); or, wider tires also make it more likely they rub somewhere, CA or fender.
