Ok, so I may be grabbing the seat jackers for the future….especially because they sound like they accomplish something I attempt for my ‘”desk chair”

The airplane I fly is incredibly uncomfortable for anything beyond about 60 minutes….but it’s primary mission is trips 3-6 hours long. the fix for me is to jack up the front thigh support as high as it goes (taking pressure off my tailbone), and then using a Purple Seat cushion. Yeah, like the Purple Mattress company. The gel grid of the cushion eliminates pressure point pain, back pain, and but pain. i can drop the seat pretty low, so in my assigned aircraft, I use a 2” cushion, but they make a 1” that I use for travel, long drives, and stadium seats. GAME CHANGER: it also doesn’t increase ride height all that much.

If you're taller than 6'3 I don't recommend the jackers. It helped with comfort a little but as a result my knees are going to be obliterated in the case of an accident and headroom is even worse.

I went ahead and bought the slammers. My Gladi is a lease but I could care less anymore.

Unfortunately, height isn’t where I was blessed. I’ve got a kid that’ll get there, but that’s probably a Gladiator or 2 down the road for me. I was, more or less, chiming in with the Purple Seat Cushion for comfort. Of all the people I’ve flown with, only 2 or 3 have disliked them. Most of the others go buy one of their own after the first time they try it.

Hey OP, these do wonders for the glutes. My girl does ‘em, I just watch her, butt it works. Can definitely feel the benefits afterwards… yet hardly conducive for long trips.

I just did 5 hours the other day and my butt was sore too. I did manage to eek out 23 mpg highway driving with 35's, auto, 3.73 gears so Iam pretty happy with that.

I was looking to plan a trip from NY to Indianapolis (11 hours) to see the Colts play but think my ass would be inverted by the end of the drive. Will update after I get these Slammers installed.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but does anyone have any recommendations for 3rd party seats that are actually comfortable? The Desert Does It kit helped but after another 6 hour drive yesterday (two-ways), I was terribly uncomfortable the final 2 hours adjusting my legs every few mins thankfully to cruise control.

Also, if anyone could answer, do 3rd party seats utilize the same rails or will my seat slammer kit be rendered useless? Would hate to lose the lowered seat height.

Thanks for any suggestions

I guess it must depend on the shape of your butt.
I’ve driven for 13 hours, with gas stops, and not had any trouble.
And depending on the pants, I may or may not remove my wallet.
?‍♂

I had knee problems with my stock cloth seats in my Sport S on long drives. Wound up putting a couple of half inch threaded nuts under the front of the seat. It's helped out and I don't slide forward anymore from shifting gears.

This I may try...Though I feel like ive read this...and said this before. I tried the DD lifters again and they were just too tall for me to be comfy.

I had read about the dd kit and had thought about getting it. I read about the cheap route as well. My knees bothered me on the long drives but the sliding forward in the seat was a bigger concern as most of my trips were 40 minute drives to work. Driving the manual always had me sliding due to the slope of the seat. I decided to try the 1/2 nuts first and see what happened. After I installed them, took a trip to Asheville, about a 2 and a half hour drive. No more sliding forward and knees didn't hurt. So, win win for me. It's worth a try for you to see. Worst your out is a little time to install and about six bucks. Most of that was the socket for the front seat bolts.

Do you happen to remember what size you used? If im going to do it id want them to be as close to snug as possible.

I suppose I could just pull a bolt from the passenger seat and take it in to home depot for sizing though.

It's been two years but I'm almost 100% sure they are half inch.

Final update:

I've actually found a solution to my ass woes and in my case the fix totaled over $1k (lol)

Item #1: A full 2" seat slam via Desert Does It

Item #2: Bony ass gel seat by Purple

Item #3: A Bestop Sunrider

This combination is ideal for anyone 6'4 or taller and will not work unless you have all 3 items (if at my height or taller).

The seat gel by Purple is the secret sauce to this fix but with a pad height of 2" it practically mitigates the Seat Slam which is where the Sunrider comes in....The Sunrider adds a solid 2-3 inches of head space in comparison to the hardtop/Freedom Panels so by the end my cheeks are comfortable and my head is no where near the roof as they once were.

My ass pain is cured hallelujah

If you have $1000 laying around and are 6'4 or taller, thank me later
