I'm gonna be installing Evo 2.5" Springs on my Rubicon, but if I'm not happy with it, I'll be switching to the Clayton 2.5" Springs.

Now, with that being said, and "potential" height differences between the 2, I found the shocks I wanna run. However, there is a $400 price difference between the correct length shocks and ones that are for less lift.

Should I save the $400 and get the shorter length shocks and run Extensions, or not be cheap, and get the correct length shocks from the get go?

The shorter length shocks with extensions will put them at the same exact length as the correct length shocks.

Never have I ever... come across someone who used shock extensions and was happy with them. ?

I'm not 100% following. What specific shocks are you looking at purchasing?

It sounds like you are concerned that if you switch from Evo 2.5(3.5-4" actual) springs to Claytons 2.5" springs (3-3.5" Actual) your shocks will no longer be the correct length. Thats not how shock lengths work!

$400 difference between different lengths? What kind of shocks?

Longer shocks would benefit you off road. On road, not much difference. How do you use your Jeep?

Because between Evo & Clayton, I'm getting a wide range of shock length suggestions.

Evo says - 29" or less up front / 30" or less out back.
Clayton says - 26.3" to 28.4" up front / 28.3"-29.7" out back.

I'll be running either Fox or King Adjustables.

I ran Kings on my past 2 JK's and loved them, so since I already have experience with them, I'd rather stick to them. But open to trying Fox. I don't wanna try Falcon, because I just don't like them.

I read somewhere that many of the lift kit height quotes were based upon the Rubicon. That makes some sense when you consider that a lot of people are getting 3-4" out of a 2" lift kit. There should be a chart for spring length, ride height, and lift kits somewhere. they way some of youse guys are giving numbers for different lift scenarios makes think there is. Hopefully, bump stop length would be included. Guidance would be gratefully accepted.

Longer shocks = more travel. More travel is good.

Shock extensions = stock travel. That's OK, but since you are spending the lift money, you hsould go for the max benefit.
