Ocala BOH trail Saturday? (02/25)

I’ll be playing around in the Ocala National Forest later this week exploring a little of the Florida Adventure Trail, and I just realized there’s a Badge of Honor trail in there. Anyone up for a Saturday (Feb. 25) run at it?

I have no idea what ONF of that BOH trail are like, but the reviews say it’s got great scenery and I’d pretty mild (except for some pinstriping cautions). It’s about time I bang around my RTT a little. Dang thing looks too new.

Excellent news! I have a few GMRS handhelds I can share, and a unit in my truck. I’m completely unfamiliar with Ocala and this trail, but it looks simple enough and should be a blast. I’ll be out there Thursday exploring the forest, and I’ll scout of a few things if I can.

It's a good time out there. You'll be in plenty of sand so be sure to air down, and a lot of the trails are tights so be ready to pick up a little trail rash. Let me know how it goes with the RTT! I plan on bringing mine out there at the end of April

Made it to Ocala National Forest. It feels almost like the Adirondacks in August. I’m going to run some of the Florida Adventure Trail tomorrow, and be at the BOH trailhead Saturday morning. Great weather. Nice people. I think we northerners need to lighten up. Florida is a sweet place.

Excellent news. I’ll shoot for 9, but I’m flexible. I’m told the trail is 80 miles, so I assume we’re looking at a good day. Weather looks great. Should be fun, and a good test of that aluminum box on the RTT.

9 is good for me, I watched a few videos but they were all when it first opened around 2020 and with the narrow trails an multiple downed trees the first 15-20 miles took them 4 hours. I'm sure it won't be as bad now that they had an official clean up of the trail.

I just finished about 80 miles of the FAT in Ocala NF today. Lots of sand. Most of the mud pits were dried up. Only came up in one downed tree, and I was able to cut it up and clear it in about 15 minutes. The BoH trail is largely in a different section of the forest, but I’m expected a lot of the same (famous last words, eh?).

Should be another beautiful day out there. See you at 9.

I got a few. As soon as I get somewhere with more then one bar of service I’ll post some up. Two great days out there. Lots of sun. Maybe 150 miles on dirt between both trails. And lots of pinstriping. I heard scraping sounds that might haunt me forever

John, were you on hwy 40 Friday around 1615 hrs? I was headed to Rodman dam and thought I saw a vehicle like yours.

Wish I would have seen this post earlier...would have been their. I'm in the Gainesville area about 40 miles north of the Ocala National Forest.
