John, were you on hwy 40 Friday around 1615 hrs? I was headed to Rodman dam and thought I saw a vehicle like yours.
We crossed 40 around 1 pm while headed south, but I wasn’t back there after that. I doubled back and left Ocala to the south since I was camping at Lake Dorr.

Must have been some other grinning guy. It was a great day out there. Loved my three days in Ocala.

Wish I would have seen this post earlier...would have been their. I'm in the Gainesville area about 40 miles north of the Ocala National Forest.
Next time, my friend. I’d definitely come back. Beautiful place.

But where are the photos??? ;)
Ok. I have Wi-Fi now, so some pics below.

Hats off to @Terminus33 who never backed down, even when the pinstriping got intense or the dust blocked out the sky. Great run through sand, mud, more sand, underbrush, even more sand, and lots of tight trails broken up by arrow-straight runs.

My black fenders took a beating, but the sting grey hides the scratches very well. I kept the top open and the man bun sits higher than the RTT on my 3/4 rack, so not too much beating from above. Awning cover took a beating but held up (a point for OVS) and the side-mounted TredPro boards doubled as great rash protectors on the other side. All in all, I came out not too sliced up. Besides, a pretty Jeep is an unfulfilled promise.

I’m betting this thing will be a whole different ballgame in the rainy season. Only a few wet mud holes this time of year. Ran the Baja Boss ATs at 20 psi and they had no problem with the sugar sand. Just great to have fun with a great machine and a few friends. Hard to beat.

One heads up: The badge of honor app sends you to the middle of the trail where the sign is. Tread Lightly has a digital map, and we ran it complete from north to south, passing that point about midday and using it as a lunch break.

Sadly, I’m no shooter, but here’s some pics to at least prove it happened …

As I mentioned, RTT did ok. A little striping, but no damage. The seal kept out all the dust as well.

Fenders took most of the beating, but that why I stuck with black. These things have bounced of trees and bounced right back, and they held up well in Ocala too.

I had a blast with you John. The pin stripping was pretty intense but with 94k+ miles I figured it's about time to get some proof it can tackle more than curbs lol.

I still have dust in places I didn't know it could get. Even after removing the top, doors and frame for the top and folding down the windshield. I had dust under the rear floor mats!

All in all a very enjoyable experience, next time let's drive through that lake. Lol

Man... I would love to go sometime. I don't mind mud and sand... I just can't do pinstripes!
Are there any trails around the area that do not screw up your paint?

You can bypass the pinstripers in Ocala. Miles of open trails with great views. The place is huge.

I used the Treads Lightly map, and imported it into Gaia GPS. The route matches the line on the badge, although it has a section not marked on the big map at the sign on the trail.

Here they are. Tread Lightly digital on top. Tread Lightly kiosk map on the trail at bottom. The digital has a few extra twists. That’s what we followed.

One other note: If you're looking for a map of the trails you can legally (and practically) take in a Jeep, look for the National Forrest Service motor vehicle use map (MVUM). You can get that as a digital layer for Avenza or Gaia as well. That will keep you off the SxS trails, and there are plenty of them that are remote and tight enough to fill that appetite if you want to get off the straight lines.

I ran 3 days of the FAT trails the same weekend. Really didn't run into the pinstriping as much as what is on the BOH trailhead, yet was able to check in and claim it. I guess there are tons of trails that qualify. We ran trails near Palatka and Rodman Dam. My buddy used Gaia had everything mapped out, just had to follow along. After about 7 hrs of cleaning back to being a pavement princess.

Great looking rig. I did a day of FAT on Friday. You’re right, less pinstriping and some great views. That’s one heck of a playground out there in Ocala.

Ocala is beautiful, and right in my backyard. I really need to get out there more often than what I do.

I wish the trails were not so tight in Ocala. I hate pin-stripping.

I run around 18psi in my tires in ONF and seem to have good results. Keep in mind the lower tire pressure will help when you encounter sharp roots and shale buried under the sand.

With a Rubicon I have also been able to play around with the Off-Road + button, especially on hill climbs.

As much as us Florida natives realize we are not in a state that has great off roading, we make due with what we have.Ocala and the surrounding areas has some great trails and the chance to see some wildlife you normally wouldn't.
