Not laughing at your question, but laughing at the comment about the 17’ Parker CC!

Not a boat, but a couple of kayaks. They rise enough to have the sterns over the tent partially.

I have another suggestion. If you have any type of overcab rack, you can get a hitch mount bed extender. I have an ARS roof rack and the hitch bed extender. The hitch extender can be flipped over so that it's cab height. I do it all the time. Just the other day I used it to transport 4-2.5" 24ft sticks of tubing. I've put other stuff up there as well. My not be the greatest idea if you have a cab height bed rack with RTT. But if you have a mid height rack like I used to have, it could work.

Tha’ts a great looking rack system, just what I’m looking for, but with a tonneau instead of the bed topper. Did you custom build that, purchase it, or modify off the shelf components?

Thank you.
It's an aluminum F-250 (taller for roof clearance) Adarac rack slightly modified to allow the Tacoma (shorter for rack clearance) softopper to fold flat underneath it.
I screwed the softopper track to the Adarac track so I wouldn't have to bolt it to the bed. It's held onto the bed with the soft topper clamps.

You may or may not be able to do the same with a tonneau cover.

To do it again I would go with the straight uprights instead of angled just for aesthetics, but either one or both may accommodate your application.

what size and type of "boat" are you talking about, is it like a 16-17' alum with outboard, or a kayak....can't really give advice unless we have context. like this

Similar to the one in the picture. About 12 foot.

I'd be worried about the Alum rubbing against the tent and causing damage, unless you can get a custom set of brackets that would raise it above the RTT while carrying it to destination, then remove the boat to set up RTT

are these the "pro" aluminium or standard ?

another question, i have a '90 Jeep Comanche, with the Toyota Tacoma 2nd Gen softopper, is that the same softopper as your's and high high are the vertical uprights on the adarac, in order to clear the softopper when it folds open ?
