Heads up, I just saw a status change on the following tracker. Note, I was previously in “D” when I had checked this tracker and the tracker had only read Order Confirmed. However, I now see that I’m Scheduled. So, that must mean D1 or further along. Of course, I don‘t know how far out this might be scheduled, and I really don’t recall how long past builds have taken to move through production. So, there’s that.

This build is a Punk’n Mojave, auto, hard top, trailer pkg.

I'm reading conflicting reports but they're either available in September or being painted in September idk which. But after parts are painted and if nothing else is holding it up its usually built in a day, few weeks to ship. Mine was built mid August and I took it home in late September.

So is this only for 2023 no 2024? That might be a problem for me then, was planning on getting a 2024 in Punkn.

And yes I know the 2024 is not released or anything until September when they announce but seems they are being very specific on this run.

As far as I can tell that is correct. They're cramming it into the end of the '23 production to keep it an exclusive color, and to help boost '23 sales before the refresh I'm sure.

Well, I for one haven’t seen anything on 2024 Glad colors, and I’ve looked as well as I can. I also previously heard something about special color runs typically do not crossing over model years. So, it’s anybody’s guess, but I’m thinking that Punk’n Mojave‘s will be a bit of unicorn when it’s all said and done.

Here is another consideration. I ordered mine in July .05% back of invoice, +150 doc, - 4K of combined rebates (3+1) which got me just under $49.9K on a $59,025 MSRP. Now, I realize that Emp. Pricing is the current incentive, but if that drops away and they increase rebates, I can choose the new rebates if better. Oh, and I’m hoping that they do, but then I’ll have something with my name on it, the way I want it with discounts and maybe even more.

So, it may just shape up to be a smart purchase. Plus, and this is a big plus, what if ‘24’s are delayed with a potential strike. As well, I’m guess rebates will be few and far between for at least a minute on the ‘24’s. Now, if I try to compare the 2 model years, I’ve gotten a $4K rebate discount plus maybe the new model gets, uhhhh, a $2K price increase, plus maybe they force me to get leather seats on a Mojave like I think they do now on the ‘24 Rubicon JL. So, what is that new price gap from a new ‘23 to a ‘24, $4K, $6K, $8K??? Also, I wrote ”refundable deposit” on what I signed, so if ‘24’s turn out to be super cool and a much better bargain, well, maybe I pivot and order that before I close on my existing order.

Well that sucks, I am not ready to buy. Saving 1k ever 2 weeks at the moment and only have about 32k saved up. Might not be buying anything after all at this rate. I am not spending in the 50k range on a vehicle I am not happy with and this is likely to be my last jeep. I drive a 2008 Unlimited Detonator Yellow that I bought brand new and at 52 I expect to be driving this when I retire in about 15 years or so. Getting a boring brown, grey, is way off the table.

The ONLY exception might be if I could find someone to do the decals for a golden eagle trans am look a like and get some rims to match. I MIGHT be willing to go that way, maybe. But I really want to go orange.

uh Sir Flynn,

It sounds like you’re mostly there. I’m guessing you’re a fiscal conservative type like me based on what I think you’re setting up to do. So, pardon me if I’m sticking my nose where it doesn’t belong, but on the chance that I could help someone; perhaps, you’d let me take a shot.

So, let’s just say that you went with my trim and tried to get employee pricing. Not sure, but I think that is low $5x,xxx now. So, let’s just ball park it at $52k until you know. Then, lets say that you could get between $10-15K for yours, but we’ll rest on $12k for now (just guessing). So, the difference is $52-12-32 = $8k. ****BUT, and it’s a big but, the factory incentives may actually get better by the time your order comes in; AND you can take the new incentives over what you locked!!! And / Or maybe you wait to see if the incentives are better next month. Usually it takes a few days and the incentives may first be $0 and day by day, they start to appear. I’ve seen additional incentives pop up in the 2nd or 3rd week of the month. However, realize that Jeep can close the 2023 AND Punk’n paint color in the order bank any time they want to.

Well, anyway, let‘s get back to what you deal could be with current estimates. At your savings rate of $1k every 2 weeks, you’d be only 16 weeks away. Now, consider what i was told that my order was likely 8-12 weeks out, then you’re only financing $2-4K. Also, what if I told you that if you can open a Jeep Credit Card, depending on your dealer, some dealers will let you charge up to $5k on that credit card, which now earns you up to 7% points back that you can spend at the dealer, and you’d get a $100 statement credit after you spend (i think) $499 at the dealer, and any purchases at the dealer over $499 are 0% interest for 6 months. All you have to do is make a small monthly payment and pay off the whole balance before 6 months and NO INTEREST.

Anyways, I may be showing my hand here a little bit, but this system works and once it statements I can spend my points in the dealer. Oh, and get this, you can actually use your points as an additional payment towards your purchase. Isn’t that crazy, you can order, charge a deposit, get points after statement, then use points as part of you payment when your order comes in.

Now, i realize that I‘ve skipped over tag / tittle, and my numbers are hypothetical at best, but just trying to say that if you like Punk’n, you might have a real path forward. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk privately. Oh, and I’m not trying to pushing anyone to buying anything, literally nothing in it for ME. I’m just sharing a bit of my playbook if it helps my fellow Jeep enthusiast.

Cheers.

I appreciate it but still a little farther off, sales tax here in WA is 10% so going to need another 5k about in taxes alone. I will have to think about it, I could do it and take the payments but also worried about work. Changes are a coming and they should be done around the time I planned to buy. That means I would know how the dice end up buying in March/April vs now. Will have to consider and maybe talk to a dealer or 2.

Not trying to be a negative nancy either, just not a good thing is all. Going to need to decide on if I wait 3+ years more and risk them cancelling the gladiator. Might be hitting the dealers soon, and seeing if there is any hard date for last 2023 order set yet. If it is after the announcement I might be able to squeak an order in for 2023 if 2024 does not have Punkn which I am afraid is highly likely.

I'm thinking whoever mentioned runs of Punkin being done in September may be onto something because I went D1 status yesterday as well. They will paint in batches so it makes sense they are grouping Punkn and scheduling. My Ram Powerwagon is Hydro Blue and it took forever to get scheduled since its a lower volume than others.

Update: Dealer sent me a message this morning saying he shows a ship date of September 13th on my order. Placed on 7/14.

I ordered my punk'n manual Mohave (I have a thing for unicorns) on 8/13. I hope it slides into the September run.

It was interesting reading the last recall notice production #s. I calculated 5% of JL production was manual. For JTs it was right about 4%. Manuals are pretty rare. Hopefully the new clutches feel better.

Mind sharing features and what the OTD was? I feel you on the manual, if I was not getting older I likely would want a manual as well.

Yes I also ordered a manual for my Punk'n and hope it has better feel. Good point.
