This may already be known, if not, here you go:
Go to autozone.com find the oil by the quart, on the product page look for a link that says:
"See Available Deals"
It will take you to a side window showing a oil change deal for $38.99 which includes 5 qts and a filter.
Click "Get Deal" and go through the motions to have it added to your cart.
-In your cart you can increase oil by multiples of 5 and filters by multiples of 1, keeping that same ratio and go up as high as it will let you. I got 15 quarts for $6.22/qt.
-You can sign in with whatever vehicle you want to get the filter your looking for. Don't think they have a diesel filter, so I grabbed 3 filters for my wifes Explorer ST instead and will get Mobil 1 from Costco....
-$100+ orders will get you free expedited shipping.
-There is also a $20 rebate on Pennzoil purchases of at least 10 quarts, look for rebates on the AutoZone website. That will bring my per qt price down to $4.89.
Obviously I also paid $7 per filter as well, but I needed them for the explorer either way.

Enjoy, hope I saved someone some $$$

How's the Penzoil doing in the diesel? My mechanic swears against it won't put Penzoil in anything?

People have opinions on everything…
It meets the MS12991 requirements.

Thus it meets the manufacturer/ engineering specifications and is absolutely safe / good to run…

An independent oil analysis test I saw a few years back on a Vette forum rated the Pennzoil ultra platinum the highest of all non race only oils. YMMV

It's the only thing I've used in the 6 Jeeps I've owned/own (none were diesel)

It meets the specs and is readily available, oil analysis show it holding up well to around 8k miles at point the viscosity seems to be shearing down to 5w-30. Many dealers are using this in the diesels, maybe due to availability or price?

Dang, that's a good deal. I still have a couple more free changes to cash in otherwise I would jump on it. Thanks for sharing.

Pretty confident your mechanic is showing their age… pennzoil ultra platinum and ultra euro are right up there just below redline and amsoil…

This was a good buy- thank you for sharing. Just picked up 15qts and some extra filters for the VW. (Sticking with the Mopar filter on the Jeep…)

thanks for posting this ???

That's so funny how people think a certain brand oil is bad.
A number of years ago I had to do something to my Chevy pickup that required taking the intake manifold off. The engine had about 160,000 miles on it at the time. My son-in-law was watching and made the comment that he heard Penzoil was no good and gummed up engines. I said "that's the only oil I use".
I pulled the intake and the engine looked spotless. He said, "I guess I was told wrong".
I sold that truck with about 279,000 miles on it, and as far as I know it's still on the road.

Oils years ago did reacted differently with different engines. One oil would sludge up in one engine only and not in others. A good example was Quaker State in air cooled VW engines. You could tell when the owner used Quaker State. When you removed the valve covers. The sludge would be packed around the valve springs. Use any other oil, and it don't happened. Over the years, Quaker State has changed their additives.

Its still there for me even as of today, maybe try signing into an account and checking again.

Also FYI for everyone. You can return the filters and keep the same pricing on the oil. Just bring the filters back to a local autozone for return with the receipt in the box. Makes this deal even better.
