This feature is actually for my dad, who is older. For the accidents you know about, was the person rear ended or did the person hit another car?As dumb as humans are, technology is even stupider. I know of at least five instances where accidents were caused by the assistive brake feature.
The dumber the better IMO. Save your money
I would be very skeptical of them adding it and turning it on for only $500. It's has a bunch of expensive parts that would need to be added as well as programming for it.
Does the vehicle already have adaptive cruise control, auto high beam headlights?
The most recent incident was my neighbor who was on the highway and in order to avoid hitting a car that stopped abruptly in front of him, merged to an (open lane), but because the sensors picked up the car in front first, the brakes engaged in the new lane causing him to get smashed from behindThis feature is actually for my dad, who is older. That's the fault of the other driver..... people blame the wrong stuff. The most recent incident was my neighbor who was on the highway and in order to avoid hitting a car that stopped abruptly in front of him, merged to an (open lane), but because the sensors picked up the car in front first, the brakes engaged in the new lane causing him to get smashed from behind
That is not an option that can be added by the dealer. It has to be factory installed.
