October 4, 2023 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - Jeep® brand shows off-roading is more than an activity. It’s a way of life.

Jeep Badge of Honor, an online community that celebrates and rewards those who embrace the off-road life, is expanding its catalog to 68 trails, featuring the following six new trails:
  • Quartz Canyon: Hot Springs Off-road Park, Arkansas
  • Barney Rubble Blue Trail #49: Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area, Pennsylvania
  • Fern Ridge Trail #121: Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area, Pennsylvania
  • C-2 Trail #141: Kansas Rocks Recreation Park, Kansas

Customers can download and use the Jeep Badge of Honor app to discover trail highlights, difficulty ratings and user photos, then earn hard badges to display on their Jeep brand 4x4 vehicles.

The Badge of Honor trails are also included in the new Jeep Adventure Guides, a built-in off-road adventure trail guide system featuring Trails Offroad, a leader in off-road trail guides and maps.

Downloaded right into the Uconnect 5 Nav system in the new 2024 Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator and displayed on the new 12.3-inch high-resolution screen, the available Jeep Adventure Guides deliver detailed guides and maps for more than 200 off-road destinations that span coast to coast, giving Jeep customers new adventures, whether they’re discovering their first trail or visiting their favorite repeat destination. Part of the 200-plus trail guides, the 68 Jeep Badge of Honor trails include the Rubicon Trail in California, Hell’s Revenge in Utah and Jericho Mountain in New Hampshire.

For even more adventures, owners can upgrade to an annual $39.99 premium subscription that unlocks Trails Offroad’s full catalog of 3,000-plus trail guides.

The Trails Offroad catalog spans a wide variety of difficulty levels and terrains and boasts an unmatched level of information and quality, including:
  • All trails rated by experts based on real-world evaluation
  • Consistent difficulty rating
  • Route description
  • Key waypoints for turns, obstacles and points of interest
This new partnership gives Jeep customers detailed information about the best off-road adventures across the United States and Canada, with over-the-air updates available to further enhance the experience. Customers will also be able to navigate directly to the trailhead of their chosen off-road adventure and to keep track of their progress by following integrated trail route maps. The unrivaled in-vehicle integration further cements the Jeep brand’s off-road leadership.

Since debuting on the 2024 Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Adventure Guides are being enhanced with a new Follow Mode that provides the right information at the right time by displaying pop-ups for waypoints, such as intersection directions, obstacles or point of interests, as the driver approaches the waypoint on the trail. Also, for trails that can be traversed both directions, customers will be able to navigate to the end of the trail in addition to the start of the trail.

I've logged 9 total but only fully completed 6, so those are the only ones I display on the rig. Checked in and done what I could on the other three 3 since I as there and on the trailheads (Trails 2x and 3x at Redbird SRA Indiana, and Trail 16 at Windrock) but I didn't fully complete them. But I simply don't rock those 3 on the Jeep considering I had to back out. Just got them hanging from my rear view for now. Those 3 are some of the highest difficulty rankings and nearly impossibly with my current set up. So have plans to go back and fully conquer them eventually.

But the other 6 I do and all of them are within a 4 hour drive of me with the exception of Treadlightly 4x4 Way which I hit on the way to vacation. Planning to expand that radius a bit more very soon and pick up Bearwallow in WV which is about 4.5 hours from me. Maybe the 3 in Stoney Lonesome Alabama eventually too.

If you were there, tried, and decided to skip an obstacle or two, or even back out, IMO you still showed up and gave it your best. I consider a trail a success if I get out and can drive home. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve completed 100% of almost all BOH trails I’ve hit, but skipped some things out of common sense on a couple. I couldn’t finish gut buster for example, but neither can anyone else in its condition. But I drove 1,400 miles and went up it until it wasn’t possible. Still glad I was there.

Great point. And Gustbuster as you mentioned (although I've never been, yet) is also one of those I've heard is crazy to the point it's even been recommended by the park itself to be removed as a BOH as if recently.

But I agree in a sense. Giving it your all and making it out successfully. But I try to keep the "honor" in it to an extent. Even on some of the ones I've fully covered I've taken bypasses etc. same as you playing it smart and knowing my rig and it's limits. Taking bypasses etc is one thing, but for me I think it's me more being hard on myself as I often am, it's more of the fact on those 3, I had to completely back out. 2x and 3x was even early into it like within minutes. Those are super hard for any JT considering they're not good trails for our wheel base besides the heavy mud, drops, ruts, and sharp turns all while dodging trees. Even heavily modded JTs have issues on those. Same with trail 16 at Windrock to an extent although I did make it slightly further in before backing out on that.

But I do see and have considered your point. Im always hard on myself I guess lol.

But then you also have some BOH locations like Turkey Bay OHV, Holly Oaks ORV, Gulches or Bearwallow to name a few for example, that aren't "trail" specific. Which gives you the option of just enjoying the park itself at your own leisure and liking, which I enjoy . Less stressful to an extent. Downside with those cases is you generally only have "one" badge for that park/location. Unlike others like Windrock(3), Redbird(4), Hot Springs(4), & SMORR(3) that have multiple "trail specific" badges within one location.

I agree. The only one I had trouble accepting was gut buster. Everything else was completed, but that one. But it was actually a reasonable challenge to even get to it. Meaning the trails to lead you there in the direction to even look at it had reasonable risk. I had to decide to go forward, figuring out the lines to not roll in one spot, just to get to its entrance. I’d compare it to table mesa in Arizona. It’s a dirt road with all but no challenge. But I drove to Arizona specifically to get the badges, and I did. The trip, even if that trail didn’t, required on the road repairs, logistics, miles on the Jeep, and I met a new friend who lives out there. A big part of why I like the badge program is that it takes me away from the mobile apps and takes me to parts of the country that might otherwise not be on my travel list. I’ve got good memories and learning experiences from every badge. Some are just more difficult than others. :)

For sure. Some of these places id never have gone had it not had a badge. Hell I've practically lived in KY my whole life and had never been to Turkey Bay before considering it's just the other side of my state. Lol.

Also I think what keeps me reserved with my badge displays is the other people that take the BOH WAY too serious that'd be like oh there's no way you did 2x, by looking at my rig seeing I only have a 2" lift on 35s, a winch, no lockers, etc. Another reason I hadn't put those on.

Fair point. For what it’s worth, you’d get no flack from me.
