They can still afford it, longer term loans are becoming the norm now, and the auto industry is eating it up. 10 year car loans will become more common, and people won't care as long as the monthly payment is right.

The memes of under $400 a month exist for a reason.

SUV/Truck prices overall are just insane right now. We're looking at a 2024 GX 550 and the trim just above base is probably gonna be $70k, if we're lucky. And that's without dealer markup. Only found one dealer within a 100 miles radius that promise no mark up. But they won't take our money since their wait list is too long. I refuse to pay above msrp... for now lol.

That price quote was for the 4xe and although it wasn't said I believe that payment to be the lease price after a hefty down payment!

Car loans are going to be the next Housing Crisis. Dealers/Manufacturers are getting smarter with ways to disable and track vehicles but this can't continue without consequences.

I recently considered an electric vehicle but I don't think the tech is there yet and Texas will charge you an additional $200 a year to register your electric vehicle because they aren't getting their gas tax and because ... Texas!

It's not just jeep. Soon the median house hold will be driving KIAs again. I see jeep as luxury vehicle for most and does not meet necessity point for most.
