New to Jeep with questions

I have a 2023 Gladiator Overland I bought in September.My understanding is they have two batteries and my questions are can anyone explain why there are two batteries?
I see the one battery under the hood, where is the second and what size is it?

The ESS (commonly called auxiliary or aux battery) is a Group 400 (AUX14).
It is found under the PDC and fuse array, accessible through the right front wheel opening by pulling up the rear of the fender liner.

the main battery comes in two sizes - if you have auxiliary switches from the factory, you have the larger of the two main batteries -
Group 48(H6) or 94R(H7)

All about corporate MPG targets to meet certain EPA cumulative manufacturer mileage mandates. Every little bit they can eke out of each jeep equals moving the needle just enough at the macro level. Used to be they would be able to average things out on the back of smaller economy cars. But not many of those are sold anymore.
