I officially got rid of my JT. Nothing but a dealer queen. 3 right axle shafts, rear window leak and scratch up your hard top replacing because of the crap design, slit seat leather from factory, severe wobble when going over bumps. What really put me over the top to get rid of it was finding out all my hood and all 4 door hinges all had paint bubbling due to their garbage painting process. 1 year backlog on doors and hoods because of the strike. Also nearly got stranded and placed in harms way on the highway when jeep went into limp mode because of a throttle body fault. My hard top also had whistling noises in the winter before seals wear out. But honestly who wants to pay 58k for a jeep and have to repaint all hoods and doors at the lowest bidder body shop Jeep can afford. It will never be as durable or good as factory paint. Most people have the paint bubbling come back after 2 years. So glad I got rid of this POS. Never touching a CJDR ever again. Good luck! Get rid of yours while you can because your hinges will corrode eventually. Took 2.5 years for mine. My buddies had his JL repainted and after 1 years it’s all bubbling again because of dissimilar metal corrosion.
Once he gets a feeling of the other midsize truck options on the market… you’ll be back…. lol

There are two types of people in this world. There is the OP and then there’s the rest of us loving the crap out of that beautiful, gas guzzling, battery draining, busted up, brick on wheels.

I'm a cereal vehicle purchaser. I love Jeeps AND Toyotas. Always have. Toyotas have been better dependability wise, but the fun factor of a Jeep is clearly higher. It's also more capable out of the box. So...if I leave again it's because I like the ride and dependability of Toyota....but the jeep with the doors off, roof off, and slapping 37s on...ugh...can't beat it. So yeah I have my top vents not blowing and it "self-selects" to defrost because the valve doesn't go where it should end I have water in the driver side floor mat...but other than that...it's fine. I'll happily stay with my Gladiator for now, no expectation of change.

Only problems I’ve had in 3 1/2 years, is rear window leak (fixed it myself), and the blackout decal on the hood is peeling off. (1 year warranty on that, took 2 1/2 years to start peeling). So far, the finish on everything else is fine.
The leak is from the plastic window frame cracking. There’s a TSB and updated part number out there. Don’t settle for a homemade fix.

Mine's a manual, so it'll probably do that on it's own.

It's a 2022 to boot, so even though the recall was announced in February of this year, I've been told i don't get a "fix" (sarcastic quotes) until fall 2024.
Yeah. I spent close to 3k upgrading mines with a center force clutch just to get rid of it 6 months later :/

I think I'll not take your advise and just go ahead and keep my Jeep. Door hinges are not on my list of things to worry about today. Tomorrow isn't looking good either.
This ain’t your little cosmetic hinge. The hinge plate starts to bubble in the edge and creeps up on the door panel. Everyone’s Jeep right now if you remove the hinge plate in the door it’s BARE ALUMINUM. Your hood hinges are also like that. So guess what happens when you have bare aluminum surface rubbing on a steel hinge plate.

Complains that the factory paint is not durable, and then complains that no aftermarket bodyshop can apply paint as well as the factory?

The factory paint itself isn’t the issue. It’s the fact that they don’t prime the door before installing the hinge plate that causes disimilar metal corrosion.

@Nuclear_Inc - I am sorry for the experience, sounds like you truly got a lemon. Will this be the last Jeep you ever own? They are not all that bad. I mean… I have the kids of death ecodiesel and love mine!
I currently own two WW2 produced jeeps. So not getting rid of all my jeeps anytime soon.

Whatcha getting to replace the JT?
New Sierra 1500
[/QUOTE]

Very sorry that your JT was miserable and left you with a bad taste. FWIW, I said the same thing years ago with a lemon Jeep Liberty. A few years later I took a Grand Cherokee home for an overnight test ride. Same electonic issues as the Liberty, so I didn't buy it and went elsewhere. In 2020, I purchased a JLUR as a spare vehicle to test the waters. Now, I'm all in with 4 Jeeps. I wish you the best of luck with your Sierra. May it fit your needs and be the best quality product.

A bit of misinformation or misunderstood information there.
It takes moisture. If there's a good seal between the parts, like paint, then it won't be an issue.
If the joint is sealed from water, there can be no galvanic reaction.
The galvanic corrosion is a local corrosion and is, therefore, limited to the contact zone.

I have an aluminum car hauler with a steel hitch bolted to the aluminum frame.
The ratio of the surface areas of the metals matters. Check metal fab and finishing sites for details.

Are the back sides of the hinges totally bare, clear steel and not coated in any way?
There's nothing on the door skin at all - it's plain shiny totally bare aluminum just like it came off a roll?

Check metal finishing and similar sites for good information, not Jeep forums

These are not complementary sentences. Jeep does not check these forums. @JeepCares posts here less than one a week on average and mostly just says "send me a pm"
Ya think they have staff to check every single forum out there and read all posts? this is far from the only Jeep forum. The Wrangler side is far from the only Wrangler forum area. There's several other Jeep forums.
JeepCares will respond if you flag them.
Even members here don't catch or read every single post - not possible.

I will say that the last issue I had they were not helpful at all, never contacted me with any information started a case but there was no follow-up.

However, trying to get a forum of enthusiasts to "Get rid of yours while you can because your hinges will corrode eventually." is quite ridiculous.
Especially since most won't.
Granted, I'm only 18 months in on my 2nd Gladiator but so far, no issues finish-wise.
My first one went 11/2019 to 07/2022 with no corrosion issues anywhere.
Doesn't mean it won't happen, but the odds are in my favor.

The last Jeep I'll ever own.
