Yeah, I don't get the hate for EV buyers myself. I also don't understand the EV people who hate on gas either.
Exactly.
I have a car that gets maybe a whopping 10-12 mpg, one that will get 20s, and then the PHEV Jeep and the 3.6 JT
At this point in our world and my life - there's room for each. My son has a pure EV - but then he's in Florida and it almost makes sense for him - sort of - because any time he wants to leave his home area it's an airplane trip, like this coming week. He used to DRIVE up to us, and have his own vehicle. Now he has to fly and borrow one of ours.
Every single article you see out there is as if they were looking to prove or support thoughts they already had. And most leave something out. I see them both ways.
Sort of ironic, I have a gas-guzzling 1973 V8 car and it's not far from a PHEV that will go 25 miles with zero gas. I have a car with a Jeep engine in it.
I run our whole house on electric with a top of the line efficient heat pump system and minisplit for sunroom, but run my shop on a mix of minisplit and LP-fired infrared heat.
I guess sometimes I'm green, sometimes I'm let's see how much gas I can push through this thing and zing it down the track burning rubber off the tires.

I have a foot in each world.

People definitely assume everyone who drives an EV is just an enviornmentalist. I'm a humanist. I lost too many pals in the desert dying in the sand for cheap gas back home. Oh...I mean for 'democracy'.

Cheaper than Carrier Strike Groups in the Gulf tho.....

Heck, if we fire 1 single SM-6 missile to intercept a Houthi ASBM headed for an oil tanker, that's 4 million dollars. Enough for 533 Federal EV credits.
Agreed. We need cheaper missiles. ;)

Solid post! No FUD, no California hatred, no politics. Refreshing for here!

I'm 20 miles east of San Diego, we regularly get 110° summers. I wish I could afford to live on the other side of the mountain haha. February lows are about 32F for a few days.....then 40F average for a month. This is the way it is in East County San Diego. We pay the San Diego sunshine tax ( 1 million dollar starter homes ) but get none of the climate.
Ahh got it on the weather. Sounds a bit like Redding where my girlfriend lived for 10 years. Trapped between the mountains it would have 30 days in a row over 100 but at night dipped into the 70's. She loved it there though.

Here was a very cool site when I had my Volt. It hooked into your ONStar and pulled the data. Look at the tab for monthly totals and notice the cold months of Dec and Jan and then the hot months like July. It was a cool thing they did!

Looks to be a pretty accomplished and educated individual.
Not if he even remotely suggests that EV brakes will wear faster or contribute more pad wear particles to the environment.
EVs are easy on brakes, really easy on them. You use the motors, wiring reversed, to turn them into generators to brake or slow the vehicle.
I can bring our PHEV to almost a complete stop and never touch the brake pedal.
Even Jeep says that brake pad life is extended (but you should still do routine service and maintenance, even though pad replacement won't be needed)

This tire nonsense is just the latest FUD from a dying industry terrified of progress. How dare we take away the profits from Middle Eastern oil sheiks? How dare we not send young men to die for cheap gas? The horror....

It’s the left that’s panicked about tire pollution, not big oil, which is my point all along. Tires are made out of oil, FYI:

Yes, plastic as well. Plastic is also not made from metal.

Not real sure where they keep coming up with these stories and estimates. My son has the Volkswagen ID4 and pays less than $100/month summertime and $150/month winter (lives in Louisiana) and is his daily commuter vehicle driving about 110 miles round trip. Charger is on a separate meter so this is not a random guess of the cost. He went from an F150 and is happy with everything so far after 2 years of ownership. Just as jeeps aren’t for everyone neither are the EVs.

Really? Recognizing the need for low cost power, energy independence, and efficient transportation makes someone a Russian operative?

Drill baby drill.
I was referring to the post that was clearly making a political statement in a forum that claims to prohibit political posts. Sorry you missed the point.
