I'll try to make a very long story as short as possible. Upgraded my 2022 Gladiator Sport S radio from the 7 inch to the 8.4 inch. Went through Mopar to save some time because i continued to read and was told it was plug and play after giving them your VIN number. Initial installation barely anything worked. After about a day everything came back except android auto, apple carplay, and the navigation. The only map that will come up is one of Asia and mostly China.

I have been at 2 different dealerships seeking answers as well as multiple calls to Mopar. The dealer I picked it up from would barely give me the time of day and basically said i screwed up and there was nothing they could do. This despite me walking him through the buying process of purchasing this exact model and proving that Mopars website showed it was compatible. The second dealer was not able to help but did say I should attempt to get a replacement or refund. Luckily no extra charge at either location.

When I call Mopar they say i need to work through the dealer I picked it up from to send it back but they do not guarantee a refund or replacement and as previously mentioned the dealer just refuses to help.

So my question is, has anyone ever seen this issue and is there a fix? It appears that its just been programmed wrong?

If there is any possible fix ill do it but at the moment it appears im stuck with a partially functioning $1500 radio. Thank you for any and all assistance!

The dealer you purchased it from is not going to be very helpful, since they ordered what you specified. It's not defective, just loaded with the Chinese version of the software.

Find someone that has ordered a Map Update, and received a Uconnect software update with it. Try and update it with that. It may fix it, and it may brick it.

What was your original intent in doing the upgrade? These upgrades are not approved or supported by Jeep. They will not activate the cellular connection, which means the remote functions, and Wi-Fi hotspot, will not work.

It's crazy theres no recourse when the Mopar site literally has you put your VIN in and says your good to go. Not like im seeking my money back necessarily. Just a radio that is programmed correctly. If i had known all this i would have just got the Stinger 10 inch.

Regardless of all that to answer your question i just wanted a bigger screen more than anything and retain the same functionality as my 7 inch. i hated the backup camera was not full screen and my 7 inch wasnt XM ready. I dont have heated seat or a hotspot so neither of those functions were necessary. thanks for the reply!

They ask for the VIN number to program it into the head unit so the computers in the truck will accept and talk to it. I don't know if they do any verification or checking to make sure it is the correct software for the VIN. You could try contacting the Map Update people and see if they can send you the correct version to load on it.

Call infotainment. 855-636-6287
They may have some answers for you and you may be able to send it to them for proper programming. I am sure there will be a cost put it may be your only choice if the dealer will not take it back.

What is the actual part number of the unit you bought?

JScan has a section titled “Radio Region Conversion Panasonic / Delphi (work in progress)“ that talks about changing the region from US to EU spec. The instructions talk about setting it to Germany as the region. May be worth looking into using that to see if you can get out of China.

Update....For whatever reason we now have apple carplay. Not sure what prompted it to return but its fully functional. Now just need the navigation updated to a US map. Per Uconnect if I download the software it will correct the navigation.

TBD if I decide to put more money into this system or sell it to recoup some cost and go with the Stinger. After seeing the 10 inch in person it definitely is a more impressive system. thank you all for your responses
