Even if you’re not seeing anything with your naked eye, try taking a picture of the sky with your phone. The camera can be more sensitive and enhance the brightness over a longer exposure. Reading up on aurora hunting a while back, I learned that it’s rarely as spectacular with the naked eye as pictures make it look.

Montana was pretty good between 10pm and 11:30pm

What part of the state are you in? East of the divide? I was checking until 1130 and saw nothing.
