Oil Additives are BAD, says Lake Speed's kid

Seen that the other day. My only complaint is that he really gave Seafoam and MMO a disservice calling them a oil additive when both manufacturers only recommend their product as a cleaner additive right before doing an oil change and not full oil run interval. Both have primary benefit as a fuel additive than a oil additive.

Everything else I agree with about them really cutting and diluting any oil additive pack. He also breaks the myth of "More ZDDP (Zinc) being better when there is point that more ZDDP become a corrosive.

Lucas though is pure trash in any form.

Yeah. He mentioned Seafoam's low flash point, but that's kind of the point. It's not meant to hang around like MMO or STP. I'm not sure where Seafoam gets water if it doesn't contain water.

Speaking of water, he has another good video on old motor and gear oil and the myth of shaking the bottles before using to remix the settled add pack material. That pretty much did nothing also and most of the still NOS sealed bottles absorbed water over time breaking down any anti foaming properties and messed up the TBN/Acid Numbers.

This is the exact stuff I've been trying to get across for 5 years - no belief until a guy on youtube says it.
I've posted dozens of times here about ZDDP, more isn't better, more can be worse, and get a lot of crap back "yeah, my additive is fine and I have proof because my engine runs fine" is the sort of response.
I've posted UNIVERSITY studies, and more - no believers.

So, I sit laughing - yeah, old news (to me, anyway)

No. I am running the Lucas Low Viscosity Stabilizer on the current fill. It'll be ready to come out very soon and sent for testing.

But that's what happens inside engines, differentials, transmissions, etc.
Oil has anti-foaming properties - those additives can negate that.

NO additives for me, ever, never ever have.
Quality products don't need that stuff.

Kind of considering rain checking that lunch date and going off in the opposite direction tomorrow.
