Alternate title: "Why is everyone suddenly waiving at me?"
So, I'm not a stranger to people getting my attention randomly on the road. I had a couple of black tie-down strap loops hanging out from my hood on my old Sentra, for hauling my kayak on the roof. People would constantly try to tell me about it. And I'd have a "yeah yeah, it's supposed to be there! thanks though!" conversation real quick before the light turns green.
My first day driving down the road in the Jeep, I noticed random people waiving at me :D I then noticed, that these waves were coming from other Jeeps. And thus my first piece of Jeep culture was discovered. As someone who struggles to create and maintain social connections, it felt really great to have such a welcome as this.
This also got me curious about other culture things I'm not aware of. Anyone have any input for someone who's excessively ignorant on jeep owner culture? (I do know and am aware of the ducks. The dealer gave me my 'first' one.)
