Passenger front wheel well. I’m having issues with this rubbing on the back side of my tire at full lock. Anyone have any idea what this is and could the lip of this bracket be cut off with no issues?

Thanks I appreciate it. I guess I should have typed something better into search because I just found a couple topics already on this after not initially finding anything. My bad!

Right to blow out the tire
Well to prevent the right front wheel/tire from being jammed up into the firewall/passenger compartment.

There's plenty of engineering voodoo that made this the solution.

And a dozen threads on it here and in the Wrangler forums. ("what is this bracket", and so on)

Even if I did remove that bracket it doesn’t fix my issue since the other piece is welded to the frame. What are your guys opinion on cutting that bend off and hitting it with some paint and leaving the bracket still on there?

With a grinder, anything is possible. I’d grind/cut that thing down /hack off the part hanging down to make it level to the frame in a heartbeat with no worries. Almost goes without saying (but not quite)…. I’m not an engineer, didn’t stay at a Holiday inn last night, and YMMV. Good luck and please post up pics if you do it. It will be something I’ll be doing in the future when my sister goes to bigger tires on her 2023 JTR ( my 2020 doesn’t have this crap).

When in doubt, cut it out

There have been a few who cut that bracket off. Removed it completely.
